£40M Arsenal signing ‘will push club’ to Premier League title – Arteta told

Emmanuel Petit has admitted he believes Arsenal signing Ivan Toney can push them to the Premier League title, as the Frenchman has again encouraged his former club to make a move for the powerhouse

The Bees left their talisman out of their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace due to speculation over his future, even though icfootballnews understands the England striker wanted to play.

The likes of ARSENAL have been linked with a move for the big man before the close of the transfer window, but Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli have had one bid of around £35million, including add-ons, rejected as Brentford wants £50 million, but the Saudi club are expected to make another offer.

The Gunners have shown an interest in the past but those links have cooled significantly since. However, Petit believes his former club should sign him because of the threat he possesses in front of goal.

“Arsenal need a 20-goals-per-season striker, they currently have a few players who can score 10-15 goals per season, like how Man City used to be,” he told Gambling Zone.

“Pep Guardiola changed the system because he knew he needed a striker who could score lots of goals. In Erling Haaland’s first season, he broke goal-scoring records and won the Champions League.

“Mikel Arteta will follow the steps of Guardiola, the way their teams play and a striker would be a cherry on top of the cake.”

“I think Nico Williams or someone like Ivan Toney could replicate Haaland’s output at Arsenal. Toney has a great relationship with Bryan Mbeumo, understanding the timing and movements of your teammates is something important for Arsenal and I think he could be the man that spearheads them to the title – a late move could do them wonders.”

Look, if ARSENAL wants to sign the player they will make their move but we cant see them paying £50 million for a player that only has a year left on his current contract.
