Arsenal update on Sokratis, Banega, Ospina, Soyuncu and Torreira as Emery building Champions League side
Arsenal have been in the headlines over a number of transfer deals in the last few weeks, but here is a roundup of possible deals for Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Terriera, Caglar Soyuncu, Ever Banega and David Ospina.
Gunners boss Unai Emery is a man on a mission and has already acquired the services of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen and Stephend Lichsteiner from Juventus of a free transfer.
The Spaniard has also made the bold decision to let firm fans favourite Santi Cazorla leave the club, and Jack Wilshere has not been offered a new contract, despite rumours he was offered around £170,000-a-week to stay.
But here are our latest reports on the next possible arrivals heading to he Emirates.
Sokratis – Borussia Dortmund.
The big 29-year old is almost a dead cert to arrive at the club by the end of the month, with reports claiming a deal has been agreed but the Gunners have to wait until July 1st for an official announcement as that is the start of the new tax quarter in Germany.
He is expected to arrive for a small fee of £17 million and will reportedly sign a four-year deal, as Emery is keen to improve his defensive issues.
Torreira – Sampdoria
The South American is currently lighting up the world Cup with a number of impressive performances and Gunners fans cannot wait for the deal to be announced.
The Italians have already announced Torreira is leaving the club for £26 million, although his official destination has not been confirmed.
However, latest reports have claimed Arsenal have NOT completed a deal for the midfielder, but talks are continuing as Personal terms are not the source of a deal being confirmed.
Soyuncu – Freiburg
The young man has been making all the right noises about a move to the Emirates, claiming on a number of occasions that he is ready to make that next step and join Emery’s revolution.
However, despite extensive talks over a possible deal, Freiburg are reluctant sellers and will not be willing to do a deal for anything less than £30 million.
They have big plans for the future of Soyuncu and despite a move wanted, have him tied down to a big deal.
The Colombian stopper is now considered surplus-to-requirements after the arrival of Leno from Levekerkusen as Emery does not need three top level goalkeepers at the club, and would prefer to keep Petr Cech along with Ospina.
He has already announced that he will consider once his World Cup is over, and with just one-year left on his current contract at the Emirates, reports have claimed Arsenal would listen to offers.
Banega – Sevilla.
This is the deal Gunners fans would like to see most happen, as the midfield maestro has the quality and experience to run the Arsenal midfield next season if he was signed by Emery.
He is reportedly in deep talks with the club and would like a link-up with Emery, his former boss at Sevilla, as he looks to test himself in the Premier League.
And recent reports have revealed Sevilla are already planning for life without Banega, as they have already acquired his replacement.
There are a few other transfer deals circling the globe, but these are the ones most likely to take place as Emery looks to build a side that is capable of challenging for a Champions League spot next season.
