Arsenal urged to sign these two players rather than Maddison, Italian claims Arsenal in talks to sign midfielder, Arsenal told deal will be announced soon
Xhaka deal to be announced soon, Arsenal urged to sign Leicester duo and Romano confirms Odegaard talks in top Arsenal news…
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.
Odegaard was a player that made a big impact with the Arsenal fans last season when he made the shock decision to leave Madrid on loan and get some game time at the Premier League giants until the end of the season.
Mikel Arteta made no secret that he wanted to keep hold of Odegaard at the start of the transfer window, but it seemed that he wanted to head back to Madrid and prove himself in that Real side.
However, despite all the reports that he wanted to stay, according to reports in Spain, Odegaard has chosen to leave the La Liga giants who are now willing to sell him and a deal could be completed in the ‘next few hours/days
And now amid the speculation Romano has opened up and suggested that Arsenal are in deep talks with Madrid about a deal for Odegaard, but they are just struggling to agree a fee with the Spanish giants
He claims: “Odegaard has chances to leave the club, and now Arsenal are negotiating with Real Madrid to understand if they can agree on the fee for the Norwegian midfielder to come back at Arsenal, but no longer on loan – [it would now] be a permanent deal.
“They are working on Odegaard now as one of their priorities.
“So Odegaard can leave Real Madrid to join Arsenal in the final two weeks of the transfer market.”
He has proven himself in the Premier League, so if the reports are true, surely Arsenal fans would be delighted to see him make that move back to the Emirates. So many fans will be hoping that the board can agree that fee, which is around the £35 million mark
Martin Keown has urged Arsenal to try and sign Youri Tielemans or Wilfred Ndidi rather than James Maddison
Maddison is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League, and there has been alot of speculation in the media that the Gunners are very much open to the idea of splashing the cash for Maddison.
Arsenal need to add some more quality to that midfield over the next few weeks in order to get back into that top four spot, but they have been urged to make a move for two of Maddisons team-mates rather than the Englishman.
Keown named Belgium international Tielemans, linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, as one option, alongside Foxes star Ndidi: ‘The missing ingredient for Arsenal tonight was steel so I’m not sure Maddison is the player we should be going for,’ Keown told Stadium Astro.
‘If I am going to Leicester, I’m going for Tielemans or Ndidi, I’m not going for Maddison because Arsenal need that type of player first.
‘You have to build that structure to the team. They have [Emile] Smith Rowe, they have that creativity.
‘You just want [Alexandre] Lacazette and [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang back again. But I think the base of that team, we had a young debutant [Albert Sambi Lokonga] playing there tonight.
‘But I’m looking at that as an area where Arsenal should be buying an international player.
‘If you really want to make it happen, you have to be able to dictate games in that midfield and Arsenal at the moment, it is an area that really concerns me.’
Right now it would be very hard to convince any of the three players to join Arsenal as they are heading backwards, so even though they would love either of the three, we cannot see any Leicester players joining the Gunners
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has opened up and claimed that an Arsenal deal for Granit Xhaka has been agreed
Xhaka has been an Arsenal player that has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months, from the poor performances on the pitch, to the rumours that he could be leaving the club this summer
Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen on acquiring the midfielder for Roma this summer, but the two sides appeared to be struggling to agree a fee, as Arsenal were demanding alot more than what Roma are prepared to pay
It was claimed that Roma want to sign Xhaka for a fee of around £24 million but the Gunners wanted closer to £30 million to wrap up a deal, which has meant that the clubs were far apart on negotiations
Then rumours broke in the media that Xhaka didnt want to leave the club after all and the Arsenal board were in fact very keen to tie him down to a new contract at the Emirates, which shocked many fans
Xhaka now looks set to extend his stay in North London by signing a bumper new deal, and Fabrizio Romano insists that an agreement over the salary and length of the new contract have already been agreed.
Fabrizio Romano Tweeted: “Everything has been agreed on Granit Xhaka signing a new contract with Arsenal which will see him stay for the next four years. The midfielder was really close to joining Roma in the past few weeks and he wanted a move to Italy but then Arsenal managed to convince him to stay.
Look, Xhaka is a very solid member of that Arsenal squad that has a few good games over the course of the season, but the club could have let him go as he clearly doesnt have the desire to give everything for the club
He looked certain for a move away, and is just signing for the money
