Arsenal weekly! Carvajal message, Rabiot told to sign, Bailly to leave, Ramsey claim, Loftus-cheek to leave
Here is a weekly roundup of all the latest Arsenal headlines from the past seven days, as January rumours begin to fly.
Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal has told the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United ‘that he dreams of playing in the Premier League’
Regarded as one of the finest right-backs in world football, Carvajal has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of transfer windows, as United see him as the long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia while Arsenal will need a replacement if Hector Bellerin joins Barcelona.
Madrid signed Alvaro Odriozola for £40m last summer and Carvajal fears for his future at the Bernabeu, despite being a regular starter under former boss Zinedine Zidane and And he has suggested he could leave the club by admitting he would like to play in England.
He was quoted on the Metro website:‘I would love to play in the Premier League.
‘It’s an experience that I would love to have and I don’t want to be left cursing not having experienced it.’
Now Carvajal has a contract at Madrid until 2022, but with a number of changes expected to arise next summer, reports have claimed Madrid could accept anything between £40-60 million for the Spanish international.
And Atlanta United have told Arsenal they will have to spend more than £11 million to secure a deal for Miguel Almiron.
After a few weeks of scouting the South American star, reports emerged which claimed Arsenal were all set to announce the signing of Almiron early in the January transfer window after the MLS side announce he was heading to the Premier League.
A fee of around £11 million has been what many media outlets believe will be the price, but now Atlanta President Darren Eales has claimed Arsenal will now need to break the back to secure a January deal.
He was quoted on the Metro website: ‘So there were two clues as to why that was total nonsense, one was Eagles, not Eales.
‘And the other was the suggestion of £11m because it would have to take at least triple that for me to even get out of bed and think about any bids for Almiron.
‘So everyone knew, as soon as they saw that figure, that it was a load of rubbish.’
Asked again if the £11m – or $14.5m – was too small a fee to land Almiron, Eales confirmed: ‘Oh yeah, way, way light, absolutely.’
Paul Mariner has urged PSG star Adrien Rabiot to snub the likes of Barcelona, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United and join Arsenal.
The highly-rated Frenchman is all set to depart the French giants in the coming transfer windows after reports emerged which claimed he has rejected PSG’S third contract offer, which is reported to be around £9.2 million-a-year, as he wants to make the move to La Liga or the Premier League to really test himself.
That has led to speculation that United, Liverpool and Spurs are just three clubs who are ready to open talks in the January transfer window in hope of convincing Rabiot that there respective club is the best move for his career.
But Mariner has urged Rabiot to make the move to Arsenal, as they seek an immediate replacement for the departing Aaron Ramsey, who has also rejected a new contract and is seeking a move away in January.
He was quoted on the Daily Express website: “I love this guy, love him.
“I wish that said ‘The Arsenal’ because I think he’d fit in an absolute treat.”
And There has been some shock reports which have claimed Eric Bailly is ready to quit Manchester United in January, with Arsenal linked with a move.
Bailly was signed by United for £30 million two seasons ago and firmly became a may stay in the back-line for the special one last season, as he was the most consistent defender at the club.
However, Mourinho has chopped and changed his defence this season as he searches for the best centre-back partnership, and Bailly has barely featured for the club, with the Metro claiming the defender is now weighing up his options.
And one club that has been linked with a move is Arsenal according to the Metro, with boss Unai Emery desperate to strengthen the back-line after conceding nine goals in the clubs first five Premier League fixtures.
The Gunners were linked with a move for Bailly before he eventually signed for United, and would reignite their interest if United don’t stick a silly price tag on the defenders head in just a few months time.
Bailly has two years left on his current deal, but is concerned about falling down the pecking order at United, especially cine Mourinho is keen to spend big and bring in a few more central defenders, with the likes of Raphael Varane, Toby Alderweireld and Jerome Boateng all linked with moves.
Liverpool and Manchester United target Aaron Ramsey has announced he will not be leaving Arsenal in the January transfer window, despite the fact the Gunners are open to the idea of letting him depart the club in just a few months time.
After months of contract talks ended with Arsenal and Ramsey coming to the conclusion a deal will not be struck, he is now all set to depart the Emirates after ten years, 338 appearances and 59 goals to seek a fresh challenge with both United and Liverpool just two clubs interested in trying to secure a deal, although the Gunners would much prefer to let him leave to a foreign side.
But rather than lose Ramsey for nothing at the end of the season, there has been some talk Arsenal were ready to offload Ramsey in the January transfer window for a small fee, rather than losing a player that is worth £50 million go for nothing.
However, He said: “I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.
“Everything has been going great with the club.
“We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case.
“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season, and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.”
And finally, Arsenal target Ruben Loftus-Cheek will ask to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Regarded as one of the best talents England have to offer, Loftus-Cheek had the opportunity to leave Chelsea during the summer transfer window but opted to stay put and fight for his Blues future, with all indications he was set to get a chance under Maurizio Sarri.
But it just hasn’t happened for Loftus-Cheek, who has made just three appearances for the London club so far this term and that has led to speculation both Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to make cheeky moves and get a bargain deal done.
Now the Metro website has reported that Loftus-Cheek is ready to give up on his dream to play for Chelsea and is ready to ditch Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window in a bid to continue his very impressive development.
Former England boss Sam Allardyce believes it’s time for Loftus-Cheek to finally call it a day with Chelsea, telling the TalkSport website: “I’m disappointed for Loftus-Cheek.
“Chelsea have told him he’s going to be a part of the team this season and, if that is the case, they haven’t lived up to that yet.
“What he did for Crystal Palace last season and for England at the World Cup, I thought this would be a big season for him at Chelsea, but it’s simply not happening.
“If I were Loftus-Cheek I would be battering the door down in January and saying, ‘that’s it, I need to get away’.
“And not on loan, get away from Chelsea properly and build his own career.
“He’s had the taste of playing first team football at Palace and obviously he loves Chelsea, but it’s not happening for him there.
“He’s got to play. He’s too talented not to play, we’ve all seen that.”
