Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed Valencia star Cristhian Mosquera wants to move to ARSENAL despite being offered a new deal by his club, who turned down to bids from the Premier League giants.

Mosquera has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Mestalla, but Valencia have the option to extend this contract beyond 2026 and have been in talks over a new deal with the Spanish star.

Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on Mosquera’s progress for some time and tested Valencia’s resolve with an opening bid to lure the young defender to the Emirates in recent days.

But this offer was rejected out of hand by Valencia, with the Spanish outfit refusing to be bullied and holding out for a fee in the region of £17million for the highly rated 21-year-old centre-back.

However, now Romero has opened up and claimed that Mosquera wants to make the move to Arsenal – he said: ‘Valencia have offered a deal to Cristhian Mosquera with an important salary. My understanding is that Cristhian Mosquera’s desire is very clear Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal.

‘Cristhian Mosquera wants to play for Arsenal. Now it’s on Valencia and Arsenal to reach an agreement. The first bid €14-15million (£12-13m) got rejected, Arsenal will be back to the table.

Valencia captain Jose Gaya has encouraged Cristhian Mosquera to ignore strong interest from Arsenal and ‘continue growing’ with the La Liga club: ‘I would like them to continue growing here because they can still bring a lot of joy to the fans,’ Valencia skipper Gaya told A Punt when pressed on rumours Cesar Tarrega, Yarek Gasiorowski and Mosquera could all leave the club this summer.

Mosquera is a brilliant young defender that is developing very nicely at Valencia, this move to ARSENAL does not need to happen right now as he will not play every game.

KEPA SIGNS

Kepa has opened up and admitted that he is really happy to be at ARSENAL after completing a £5 million move from Chelsea on July 1st 2025

New Arsenal signing Kepa Arrizabalaga said: “I’m really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming.

Joining ARSENAL shows that he has the quality to be a very good stopper, his performances for Bournemouth last season is why this move has happened, but why go and sit on the bench at the Emirates, maybe play a few cup games?

At this stage of his career he should be at a club firmly establishing himself as number one, not playing backup to a stopper like David Raya.

ARTETA HAPPY WITH KEPA DEAL

ARSENAL have completed a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, after triggering the £5m release clause in his contract, and Mikel Arteta is delighted with his latest signing.

In the summer of 2024, Arrizabalaga extended his stay at Chelsea by a year, keeping him under contract until June 2026. However, shortly after renewing, he was loaned out to Bournemouth for the 2024–25 season.

At Bournemouth, Arrizabalaga replaced the experienced Neto, who ironically joined Arsenal on loan, as the Cherries’ first-choice keeper. The Spaniard excelled under manager Andoni Iraola, playing 35 Premier League matches and securing nine clean sheets

Kepa will compete with first-choice goalkeeper David Raya, after Neto returned to Bournemouth from his loan spell at the Emirates. Arsenal are understood to be impressed with Kepa’s desire to join the club and fight for his place in the team.

The Spain international was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2018 from Athletic Club for £71.8m, a world-record transfer fee for a goalkeeper at the time.

Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, added: “We are really excited to have Kepa join our Arsenal family. He is a player with great experience, someone who has already won major trophies, and we cannot wait for him to join the group and help the club win.
