Arsenal ‘WILL MEET’ £120M asking price to sign world class act on deadline day

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to meet Atletico Madrid’s asking price for Julian Alvarez as the Gunners make one final attempt to complete a deal before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The north London club have made the Argentina international one of their leading attacking targets and are understood to be willing to meet Atletico’s valuation in an effort to get the deal over the line.

However, the situation now appears to rest largely with Alvarez and his representatives.

Atletico Madrid are keen to retain the 26-year-old forward and have reportedly made their desire to keep him clear. Despite Arsenal’s determination to complete the transfer, the Spanish club are not actively looking to sell one of their most important attacking players.

Arsenal’s willingness to meet the asking price could therefore remove one of the major obstacles in negotiations, but financial agreement alone may not be enough to secure Alvarez’s signature.

The Gunners have reportedly done everything within their power to convince the striker that a move to the Emirates Stadium is the right next step in his career. The decision will now come down to whether Alvarez is prepared to leave Madrid and begin a new chapter in the Premier League.

Barcelona are also understood to be monitoring the situation. The Catalan giants could revisit their interest in Alvarez during the January transfer window, adding another potential complication for Arsenal as they attempt to complete the move before Tuesday’s deadline.

ARSENAL‘s urgency is understandable. The club are determined to strengthen their forward options and do not want to enter the remainder of the campaign without adding another attacking player.

Reports suggest that the Gunners have given themselves a very limited window to secure Alvarez. If they do not receive the answer they are hoping for within the next 24 hours, Arsenal are expected to move quickly towards another target rather than allow the uncertainty to drag on.

That approach highlights the importance of the situation for Mikel Arteta and the club’s recruitment team.

Opinion: Arsenal must push, but have a backup plan

The Argentine would bring elite-level experience, versatility and proven goalscoring ability, making him an ideal addition to a squad competing on multiple fronts.

However, the Gunners cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket. If Alvarez ultimately decides to remain at Atletico, ARSENAL must immediately turn their attention elsewhere.

The club’s willingness to meet Atletico’s asking price demonstrates how serious they are, but ultimately the player has to want the move
