Arsenal close in on big Premier League deal after target Zaha tells club ‘he wants to leave’ this summer
Reports have claimed Wilfried Zaha has told Crystal Palace he wants to leave the club amid interest from Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
Zaha has become one of the most talked about players of the transfer window, as his performances for Palace over the last 12 months have alerted the top clubs to his clear potential.
But Arsenal have emerged as the front-runners to complete a deal for Zaha, as reports in the media have claimed that Unai Emery is desperate to add some width to the squad this summer and add something different to his attack.
Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal have made an opening offer of £40 million for Zaha, which has quickly been rejected as Palace are seeking close to £80 million for their star man.
However, the Sky Sports website has reported that the 26-year-old forward made his feelings clear that he wants to leave the club this summer after returning to Palace following his participation in the Ivory Coast’s African Cup of Nations campaign.
Zaha has stated on a number of occasions over the past 12 months that he would like to make that step up and play at the very highest level of the game, preferably with a team playing Champions League football.
Zaha to Arsenal would excite many Gunners fans as he would bring some real quality and pace to the Gunners attack, but he should not be the priority, especially as Emery only has limited funds to spend this transfer window.
He could be a great signing for Arsenal if they manage to pull this transfer deal off, but they will have to pay more than the £40 million that has been offered already, which could cause a problem as they do not have a lot of funds to spend this window.
If He wants to leave Palace, they should let the winger leave as the man is destined to play for a big club like Arsenal. But not for the kind of money that is being talked about in the media on a daily basis.
