Arsenal give go-ahead to sign striker, Mikel Arteta makes Gunners decision and sought after hitman sets asking price of £91 million

Arteta makes Arsenal decision, Andre Silva sets own asking price and Arsenal given green light to sign Frenchman in Arsenal roundup…

Reports have claimed that Mikel Arteta will stay at Arsenal amid speculation from Barcelona.

Arteta has done a pretty decent job at the Emirates since he took over the club last season, and is not starting to get his side firing on all cylinders as they seek to get back into a top four spot and add some silverware to the cabinet.

It is no secret that he has had his tough times at the club, had some bad results, but he is one of the most highly-rated young managers in the game, and now he is on the radar of Joan Laporta

Laporta is one of the favourites to win the presidential race and hold a second spell in charge of the Catalan club, and reports on the METRO website have claimed that he is looking to replicate the previous successes by bringing Arteta to the Camp Nou.

It seems like Barca really want to bring back Pep Guardiola, but his extension at Manchester City killed any hope of that, while Club legend Xavi has also reportedly ruled himself out of a Camp Nou return, so Arteta is now being targeted as the man that will bring back success back to the club.

It is believed that Barca believe that Arteta will be a great coach one day.

WHAT IS THE LATEST? claim Arteta would be open to being Barca manager ‘one day’ but wants to see through his job with Arsenal.

Arteta has a contract at Arsenal until the summer of 2023 and has the backing of the club’s board, despite a poor season on the pitch, and the Arsenal chiefs have backed Arteta to complete a ‘cultural overhaul’ of the club.

In-form Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva has named his own price amid speculation linking him with a move to the likes of Arsenal.

There are still a few months between now and the end of the season, but Mikel Arteta knows that he needs to delve into that transfer kitty and add some more fire-power to the attack.

Pierre-emerick Aubameyang has not been the same player that he has been this season, while Alexandre Lacazette seems to be heading for those exit signs, meaning that Arteta has been linked with a move for the impressive Silva.

Silva has been impressing over in the Bundesliga and his performances has meant that the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and even Juventus have all been keeping a very close eye on his level of consistency.

And amid the speculation, Silva opened up on all the speculation, he has told O Jogo of the transfer talk he is generating: “I’ve heard rumours, but that is it. Rumours are rumours. At the end of this season, it’s something that gives me more motivation to work, it’s a sign that what I have accomplished has borne fruit and the path has been good.”

Transfer fees have started to drop across the board amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and it remains to be seen what Silva would cost on the open market., but asked to set his own price, the ex-Porto prodigy joked: “Around €105 million (£91m/$126m)?”

He added: “I’m kidding. I think I heard €30m (£26m/$36m) and something somewhere. When we sell our merchandise, we always increase the value a little bit.

“Things are as they are and, whatever happens around us, the most important thing is to look at me and what I can do.”

Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Lucas Gourna-Douath with St-Etienne reportedly prepared to accept £22million.

Gourna-Douath is one of the hottest prospects in French football, and the talent is attracting interest from some of the very best sides in the Premier League, as well as a few Spanish clubs.

He has played 23 times in Ligue 1 this season earning praise for his performances from a deep-lying role, but despite all the transfer speculation, The youngster is also said to be keen on continuing his development with his boyhood club.

St-Etienne boss Claude Puel also wants him to be the future of his team, and is hoping that the French club would deter all speculation and keep him at the club for the next couple of seasons.

Reports in the SUN website have claimed that St-Etienne face being forced to sell at the end of this season as part of a mass player cull.

The Covid-19 has hit many football clubs hard over the past 12 months and they knew that they money they could get from the Sale of Douath would go a long way towards paying off some bills and maybe adding to the squad.

We all know that Arsenal like to sign the best young players in the game and have the financial power to beat off all competition, so if the club really want to add the lad to the squad.

However, we have seen in the past that a move to a big club like Arsenal is not always the best way to get the top of the game.
