Arteta delighted as Midfielder chooses Arsenal over Barcelona move!

Mikel Arteta is reportedly delighted as Mikel Merino has decided to join Arsenal over Barcelona.

The Gunners have been linked with so many players over the past few months as many fans expected the Gunners to bring in a few quality players to add to the squad, but so far only David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori has been signed by the club.

But it is widely expected that ARSENAL will look to add to that attack this transfer window – and Merino is a player that has been linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few weeks after his impressive performances in the Euros 2024 for Spain.

According to recent reports in the media , Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of him and has sanctioned a deal that would see the 28-year-old earn the most lucrative contract of his career, potentially double what is currently on.

Arteta presented a detailed plan to the player about where he fits into his vision & tactical set-up, and according to the London Evening Standard – the midfielder is excited about the idea of Arsenal and Arteta is very happy that he is signing.

On the subject of Merino to the Gunners, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently said on YouTube: “Arsenal are close to signing Mikel Merino. Arsenal have an agreement with the player, so Merino said ‘Yes’ to Arsenal, despite all the possibilities he had on the market.

“Negotiations are now underway between Arsenal and Real Sociedad. The player is tempted by working under Mikel Arteta, now they need to finalize the agreement. At the moment, everything is verbal conversation between Arsenal and Sociedad, waiting to make it formal.

“Arsenal are really getting closer to reaching an agreement for a package worth more than €30m for Merino.”

There has been so much speculation about the players that Arsenal could be signing this summer – there is still plenty of time left for ARSENAL to sign Merino if they really want the Spaniard.

He will be a very solid signing for Arteta that is for sure.
