Arteta hints he wants creative midfielder, Depay move to be made, Jimenez the man to replace Auba at Arsenal, Arteta outlines transfer plan in Arsenal
Arteta eyes creative midfielder, Depay move to be made, Jimenez linked up, Arteta outlines transfer plan in Arsenal news roundup…
Mikel Arteta has been outlining what he will be looking to bring to Arsenal when the window opens.
Arteta has been drawing up a list of possible targets for some time and believes he will be given the full support of his board when it comes to chasing down those he sets his sights on.
Character will be as important as ability, with the Gunners determined to acquire players that mix hunger with talent: “For me, it’s the number one question when we bring someone to the club,” Arteta told Sky Sports.
“What is he like? How is he going to react in difficult moments? Is he a leader? Is he someone who is going to push his team-mates? Is he hungry for himself, or does he have collective ambitions? Is he someone who can be stable and consistent in the long-term?
“For me, those are always the first questions when we try to sign a player.”
The highly-rated 38-year-old added: “I am encouraged that we are on the same page, and that we are going to try to do our best to evolve the team.
“First of all the players we already have here, if there is anything extra to help them more and give them a better environment, and then, if we go into the market and we have to do things, to decide which ones to do and how quickly we can do them.
“We are completely ready for that, and I also have a really good understanding with [technical director] Edu. We have been working together very closely to put together a plan that we are convinced can be successful.
“But also, it’s important to have all the information you need from the team that you have, from the players, from everything.
“That took some time as well.”
Could Arsenal be all set to make a move and land Memphis Depay on the cheap this summer window?
Manchester United decided to offload Depay in 2017 after the winger failed to make the kind of impact that many expected after his big money move to Old Trafford, but the Dutchman has re-established himself in France with some eye-catching patches of form and his performances have actually linked him with a move back to the Premier League.
That led to speculation that both Chelsea and Liverpool may be interested in trying to secure a transfer deal last summer, especially as both clubs were looking to add something different to their attacks during the summer window.
But in the end of the Dutchman stayed put at the French side, but his performances, and goals, this season has once again liked him with a move back to the Premier League, with Arsenal now reportedly interested in a deal.
Recent reports in the media have claimed Arsenal are considering an approach with the Holland international’s contract set to expire in June 2021.
Now Le10 Sport have reported that Depay will be available for just £30m this summer and is now an Arsenal target as they line-up a number of possible signings.
He has been labelled a flop in the Premier League after he spent two seasons with Manchester United from 2015 until 2017, and is reportedly seeking to put things right and prove that he is capable of playing at the highest level.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had admitted that he is looking to add a bit more creativity to this Gunners side.
Mikel Arteta has taken over a club that is in need of alot of work in order to get in back inside those Champions League places, but despite the poor League form, he has brought in alot of optimism to the club.
His style of play, management and way he handles himself has earned him alot of respect from the media, but many are wondering whether he will get the backing from the board to acquire the players he needs to help improve this Arsenal side.
But ahead of the summer window, Arteta has dropped a hint that he is looking to sign a new midfielder, as he is looking to add a bit more creativity to this current Arsenal midfield.
He was quoted on the SUN: “It is one of the challenges we are facing and one of the areas where we have to improve, for sure.
“Sometimes it is down to individual quality, but the whole structure is probably even more important in order to be a threat in the spaces that you want to attack.
“How consistent you are in maintaining those attacks also depends on the structure behind the ball.
“Everything is linked together and the players have to understand that.”
Fresh reports have again claimed that Arsenal are eyeing up a deal for Raul Jimenez if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves the club.
Jimenez has become one of the most talked about players this season after another impressive campaign with Wolves, which he has shown his true ability and quality on that pitch on a weekly basis.
His performances this season has led to alot of speculation in the media about his next club, with the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Juventus have all been suggested as potential destinations for the 29-year-old who has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season.
The Midlands club face a battle to keep hold of their Mexican No9 when the transfer market reopens with plenty of clubs interested, but believed that they could keep hold of the striker after putting a massive £90 million price tag on his head.
Le10 Sport reports the Gunners see the Mexican international as the perfect replacement for Aubameyang, who is currently in contract discussions with less than a year left on his deal at the Emirates.
Arsenal are interested in a number of possible signings as Arteta is looking to build a side that is capable of getting back inside the Champions League spots next season.
AMid all the speculation, Jimenez is enjoying being swept along for the ride at present, with no definitive call on his future offered once again when discussing the speculation he is generating with Telemundo.
“First of all I am very happy here with the Wolves,” Jimenez said. “I am in a place where from the first moment we made an incredible connection.
“I am no stranger to all that [the rumours], every day a new team comes out, every day a new offer comes out, I do not know how many millions.
“It is good to know that they are talking about you, but what I have to do to make that happen is to continue doing my job here with the Wolves.”
Look, it will be a massive surprise in the summer to still see Jimenez at Wolves as he is surely heading to a big club during the transfer window, he is destined for a big club, but Wolves are crazy if they believe they can get £90 million for the striker.
Arsenal want to sign Wolves striker Raul Jimenez if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang decides to leave the club.
Jimenez would be a very good signing for around £30 million though.
