Arteta drops massive Odegaard hint, Arsenal told £50m target ‘will be best in world’ Aouar to arrive on the cheap? Guardiola praises three Arsenal players

Guardiola praises three Arsenal players, Camavinga will be the best, Arteta drops Odegaard hint and Aouar on the cheap in Arsenal roundup…

There has been some big news emerge which have suggested that Arsenal could land Houssem Aouar on the cheap in the summer.

It is no secret that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is a massive fan of Aouar and wanted the board to sanction a transfer move either in the summer, or the January window, to get a transfer deal done.

Lyon wanted £55million for his signature in the summer, a fee that was more than what Arsenal paid to release Thomas Partey from his Atletico Madrid deal, and with Covid hitting the club in the inter window, they did not intend to pay that fee in January either.

The next summer is another time for the Gunners to try to sign him again though, and Football London claims that there may be a chance for the Gunners board to land the Frenchman for a much smaller fee than that £55 million asking price.

This is because the effect of the coronavirus pandemic and the shortfall from TV rights has seen Lyon lose money, and The report claims that the French giants lost £96million in their last financial year and they might be forced to cash in on some of their stars to balance the books.

And the reports also go on to suggest that a fee of £35-40 million could be enough to get a deal done for the midfielder.

Long-term Arsenal target Eduardo Camavinga will be “the best midfielder in the world” according to his agent Jonathan Barnett.

Camavinga is a player that has been linked with all the biggest clubs over the past few seasons after developing very nicely at Rennes, where he has enjoyed another superb season with Julien Stephan’s side but is widely expected to be the subject of a move this summer.

The likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and even Tottenham have all been named as clubs that could swoop in and try to get a transfer deal done, although he would cost close to £50 million to acquire.

But amid all the speculation, his agent Jonathan Barnett has opened up and claimed that Camavinga has the potential to go on and become the best midfielder in world football: “At the moment, he’s a Rennes player,” Barnett exclusively told Goal. “He likes Rennes and, at the moment, we haven´t really taken to other clubs. It isn’t our position.

“Let’s see what happens later on, but he’s doing well in Rennes and that’s fine. Being the best midfielder in the world, that’s how I see his future, [with] a lot of medals and a lot of trophies.”

“Eduardo will have a choice of a lot of clubs if Rennes decides to release him. They will be one of the four of five clubs in the world he might go to.

“Eduardo would love to play for a top club. Madrid are one of those top clubs in the world, so are Barcelona.”

Asked if Camavinga would cost more than €50m, he added: “I would think so.”

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has opened up on Arsenal ahead of the clubs meeting this weekend.

Guardiola may have seen his side struggle at the beginning of the season, but they are in formidable form over the past few months and they are now clear favourites to go on and win that Premier League title.

Guardiola’s team know that another win this weekend will mean that they are one step closer to that League title at the end of the season, but even though his side are favourites to brush aside an inconsistent Gunners side, the Spaniard is full of respect for Arsenal.

He claimed that Arsenal will have a fine game against his side with the quality of their build-up play, and He then singled out Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as danger men for the Gunners: “We will have an incredible performance [from Arsenal],” Guardiola told reporters on Friday as quoted by Express Sports.

“They have an exceptional build-up, they move with many, many sense, all the movements they have for the build-up to the final third.

“The quality for incredible energy, for Smith [Rowe], Saka and Aubameyang, especially with his runs in behind, and all the players that they have in the middle.

“In the early future they will be real contenders to fight for the titles.”

Mikel Arteta has hinted Arsenal would like to turn Martin Odegaard’s loan at Arsenal into a permanent arrangement.

The 22-year-old has shown his quality in loan spells at Vitesse and Real Sociedad, with his composure and creativity winning many fans, and those performances led to Real Madrid keeping hold of him at the start of the season.

However, Odegaard was unable to get a decent run in the squad under Zinedine Zidane, and when the January transfer came around, the talented midfielder told the club that he wanted to leave on-loan until at least the end of the season.

Odegaard has made a promising start to life in north London – so much so that Arteta said he has the potential to become one of the best players in the world – and the Gunners coach is hopeful of being able to persuade the player to remain at Arsenal.

“We have Martin for a few months from Real Madrid and first of all we have to maximise this time with him to try to bring to the team all the qualities he has,” Arteta said on Sky Sports

“At the end of the season we will sit together and decide where we can take that relationship forward. At the moment it doesn’t just depend on us.”

Look, we are massive fans of Odegaard and believe that a permanent move away from Madrid is the best thing for him and his career, he will not be given the game time that he wants and needs at the Spaniards.

So if the Gunners can broker a deal for the lad, they should, he has that ability to go on an become one of the very best midfielders in world football
