Mikel Arteta explains Arsenal decision to sign £45M duo this January
Arsenal star Mikel Arteta has explained why he signed Brighton winger Leandro Trossard and Spezia centre-back Jakub Kiwior this transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with all sorts of players this transfer window and have been tipped to sign some world class players – but so far – Arteta has managed to sign Trossard and Kiwior.
Trossard was done at Brighton after falling out of favour with the club, and Arsenal managed to get a deal done for just £27 million. While Kiwior is a lad that is rated very highly by the Gunners scouts and a player that has been brought for the future.
Now – Arteta has opened up and revealed why he wanted Trossard and Kiwior at the club – and The Arsenal boss has also confirmed he wants another midfielder.
The Spaniard said: “Leandro is a player that is willing to make things happen and who is really composed in the final third.
“That’s something we needed in the team and straight away he had a beautiful impact on the team and helped us to win against Manchester United last week.
“Jakub Kiwior gives us more cover defensively because we’ve only had three centre-backs which is not enough.
“We’ve been very lucky with injuries and we needed to recruit and that’s what we’ve done with Jakub.”

Since the arrival of Edu to the club – Arsenal have made some brilliant signings that have made a real impact on the side – so fans will be hoping that Trossard and Kiwior will do the same.
Arsenal have a real chance of doing something special this season – and these two players will give the club that depth that they need.
