Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta opens up and admits ‘we are close’ to signing up £250,000-a-week Auba

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is very close to signing a new contract at the club.

Now we all know that Aubameyang has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months as many Arsenal fans are expecting him to pack his bags over the next ten weeks and leave the Emirates.

It is believed that he wants guarantees that he will be challenging for that Premier League title, playing Champions League football and winning trophies on a yearly basis before he ends all speculation.

But After his superb winning goal downed London rivals Chelsea in the FA Cup and then helping the club to winning the Community shield, Spaniard Arteta has remained upbeat that a lucrative £250,000-a-week deal will be agreed.

He said on Sky Sports: “Big games, big moments, big players.

“He has responded really well to that kind of pressure. He was magnificent in the FA Cup final and the same today.”

When asked about his new contract, he responded: “We are close.”

There is no doubt that keeping hold of Aubameyang this summer is the high priority for the Gunners board as he brings so much to the club, so if the deal is close, it will be a massive boost to the club heading into the new season.

Arteta has managed to secure some transfer deals and win a few trophies that should show Auba that the club are heading in the right direction, so lets hope that he stays in the Premier League this summer, as we all love to see the best players on a weekly basis in the English game.

This has been drawn out for long enough, it is time for an official announcement.
