Arteta announces decision to complete Arsenal deal – after £25M star completes move
Mikel Arteta has revealed why Arsenal made the decision to let defender Nuno Tavares leave the club on loan this summer
With Scotland international Tierney nearing a return to full fitness and the brilliant signing of Oleksander Zinchenko – the Gunners will have two top-class full backs in that position
Tavares has struggled to impress during his brief spell at the Emirates and has shown that he is clearly not ready to become a regular starter at the club – of back-up to Tierney or Zinchenko
The Portugal Under-21 international will now spend next season on loan at Marseille and Arteta is confident the move will prove both productive for the player and his parent club.
And after allowing the young man to leave the club this summer – Mikel Arteta has opened up and revealed just why the club opted to let Tavares go – claiming that it will help his development
‘It’s announced it’s official and for Nuno’s development I think it’s going to be really important,’ said Arteta at the weekend
‘Obviously we have recruited Oleks in that position and we have Kieran as well which is two really really good and strong players in that position.
‘We believe Nuno’s best solution was to do that.’
