Arteta told to sign £100M star, £85M Gunners target has gentleman’s agreement, Arsenal step up Brazilian chase
Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed…
There has been some fresh reports which have claimed that ARSENAL are ready to battle Manchester City for the signature of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes heading into the January window.
After establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League – there has been alot of transfer talk that the likes of ARSENAL and Manchester United are both interested in a potential deal for the Brazilian star.
However – in recent months there has also been some interest from Manchester City in the Brazilian star as the injury to Rodri has become a real concern for boss Pep Guardiola, who is dealing with all sorts of injury problems this season.
Now – According to Fichajes, Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Guimaraes ahead of the January window and are preparing to make a move for the Brazilian star if he decides to make a switch in the winter window.
Will Guimaraes be interested in a move to Arsenal?
Guimaraes is a top-class midfielder that is a full Brazilian International – he is destined to be playing Champions League football every week and challenging for trophies.
He is happy at Newcastle, he is settled and enjoying his football, but if there really is a move made by ARSENAL at the end of the season to make the move to the Emirates – he would be more than interested.
It would give him a chance to play at the very top of the game for one of the most exciting teams in Europe – the only problem is the fact that Arsenal already have a world class midfield that doesnt really need another star like Guimaraes.
However – he would be a massive signing and would add a bit more depth to the squad – he would be interested in a move to Arsenal that is for sure.
ARSENAL TOLD SIGN ISAK
rsenal have been again encouraged to replace Kai Havertz with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, a player that the Gunners were reportedly very interested in signing during the summer window.
Since his move from Chelsea to ARSENAL, Havertz has improved alot over the past few seasons and is a man that Mikel Arteta relies on alot to lead that Arsenal attack, and as we said, he has done well since his move to the Gunners.
But that has not stopped speculation and rumours that Arsenal still need to sin a 30 goals a season striker in order to win that Premier League title, leading to suggestions that a future move for Isak could once again happen.
Isak, 25, has scored 30 goals in over 70 appearances since arriving at St James’ Park in 2022, with 21 of those coming in the Premier League last season and now reporter Iomie Stanley has urged Arsenal to sign the Swedish star.
‘It’s an interesting debate on who should be signed to lead that Arsenal attack over the next 3,4 or even 5 years.
‘I’ll hold my hands up and say I was one of the people who didn’t think Havertz was up to the task when he first signed, but he’s found a new position and style of play under Mikel Arteta and has become a vital focal point up front for Arsenal this season.
‘But ‘If ARSENAL can sign Isak from Newcastle as their number nine, that would be a perfect fit for all parties – even more so than Havertz as the big Swedish star is proven to be a 20-goals a season striker.
‘If the club want a long-term project and vision, he’d be an absolutely blinding fit and one that would help the club win that Premier League title for the first time since 2004.’
‘But as we said, Mikel Arteta knows who he wants, and it will be interesting to see who he signs.’
GYOKERES UPDATE GIVEN
Fabrizio Romano has handed the likes of Arsenal an update on the future of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has been heavily linked with a January move to the Premier League.
Swede Gyokeres has been a major hit in Portugal since joining Sporting from Coventry in July 2023 and become one of the most dangerous strikers in World football, hitting 43 goals for the club last season.
He was a player that ARSENAL were very heavily linked with signing during the summer window, but his massive asking price was a real problem for the Gunners, and in the end, the decision was not made to make a move for the striker.
But Gyokeres is one of a number of Sporting CP players who could leave the Portuguese club in the wake of Ruben Amorim’s departure, with Arsenal likely to chase the former Coventry striker once again.
United are another of those linked with Gyokeres and Amorim’s appointment at Old Trafford has increased speculation that the Swede could be heading to Manchester. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Gyokeres will certainly not be off to United in January.
Romano said: “In the discussions between Sporting and Man United when they agreed on Amorim’s exit in November, there was also a gentleman’s agreement for United not to bring in any Sporting player in January.
“This is because Sporting hope to win the title this season and they don’t want to lose any other part of the squad in January, after having the big shock of Ruben Amorim leaving in the middle of the season.
‘My expectation is for Manchester United to eventually look at Sporting players in the summer, if Amorim approves; not in January.”
