Mikel Arteta encouraged to bring striker to Arsenal – ‘we need someone in the box’
Gunners icon Kevin Campbell has encouraged Arsenal to make a move and sign a striker this January window.
ARSENAL were sitting pretty at the very top of the Premier League and looking like a side that would push on and take the crown of Manchester City this season, but over the past few weeks that has changed.
A couple of shock losses to West Ham and Fulham have meant that Arsenal are now five points off the top of the League, after Liverpool continued their impressive start to the season.
That has prompted many in the media to suggest that Mikel Arteta will need to delve into that transfer kitty and add a new striker to the side, as the club are clearly lacking sombody that has the ability to score 20-30 goals a season.
Now – all the rumours and all the speculation – Campbell has opened up and told his former club that a new striker needs to be signed this transfer window – as the club need someone inside the box.
He told TalkSport: “We need somebody to patrol the six-yard box, because it seems like we don’t have that. I’m seeing Eddie Nketiah outside of the box most of the time, Gabriel Jesus outside of the box most of the time, when really we should have a body inside the box.
“So I think a striker should be one of the priorities.”
