Mikel warns his fans! after Arsenal boss sends transfer message to pure Gunners
Mikel Arteta has warned Arsenal supporters not to expect ‘big things’ in the January transfer window.
ARSENALhave had a poor last few months in the Premier League and it seems that their season is going off the rails already at this early stage of the season, but now that Mikel Arteta is in charge, some top-class players might arrive in January.
The Spaniard has been working with Pep Guardiola over at Manchester City for the last few seasons, and has picked up a thing or two about signing ready-made players that are good value for money, which is what the Arsenal need.
It is believed that the Arsenal hierarchy will back Arteta during the January window, especially if they want to avoid a relegation battle and challenge for that top four spot and Champions League football next season.
There has been a lot of players linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few days, there will be more players linked with the club, especially with the clubs recent injury issues.
But despite all the transfer speculation, Arteta has come out and sent a sturn warning to fans who expected some big named players arriving over the next few weeks, he told the TalkSport website: “I don’t know, I’m not expecting big things,” Arteta replied when asked about potential transfer business.
“I’m expecting big things from the players I have at the moment, the players that are recovering from injuries. That’s the biggest expectations from my side.
“If we can find something to help us go through the season in a more balanced way in certain areas, and which is helpful, we’ll look at the options.
“We always have to be looking because obviously we have some bad injuries for players who are going to be out for a long time. We have to see if we can find options there.”
Look, Arteta has a squad that will struggle to put a run of winning gamed together, and a squad that is lacking in world class ability, so if Arsenal don’t sign anybody, it will be a very tough season for the club.
