Arteta wants £30M star at Arsenal – Spaniard getting closer to Arsenal move – Gunners to make £60m striker offer

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Arsenal are reportedly ready to make an offer for Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres as they seek to replace Eddie Nketiah.

Kai Haverz impressed during the run-in last season but it there is doubt that he can score 20 goals a season, while the fitness and injury record of Gabriel Jesus has become an increasing concern.

Nketiah is reportedly very interested in making the move to Ligue 1 football and joining Marseille after they showed an interest in getting a transfer deal done, meaning that Arsenal may need to make a move for a new striker.

Some big names have been linked over the past few windows – but Gyokeres is a name that has been linked with a move to the Emirates after a stunning season for the Portuguese side.

He scored an astonishing 43 goals in 50 appearances last season and According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are ready to test the waters and tempt Sporting Lisbon with a bid of between £55m and £60m for Victor Gyokeres.

The Portuguese club believe, however, they can spark a bidding war and will still demand that the Sweden international’s £86m release clause be paid in full.

Look, Arsenal have had plenty of time to sign Gyokeres – it is not like they need to sell players before making signings – they have a big transfer budget to play with.

The big striker would be a brilliant signing for the club though – Nketiah is ready to move and there is talk that Gabriel Jesus could also depart the club – so at the end of the day – the Gunners would probably be making money by selling two and signing one.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out – but it will all come down to money guys that is for sure.

MERINO CLOSING IN ON MOVE

Arsenal have sent a proposal to Mikel Merino to join the club, and a move is getting closer and closer according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners have been linked with so many players over the past few months as many fans expected the Gunners to bring in a few quality players to add to the squad, but so far only David Raya has been signed by the club.

But it is widely expected that ARSENAL will look to add to that attack this transfer window – and Merino is a player that has been linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few weeks after his impressive performances in the Euros 2024 for Spain.

According to recent reports in the media , Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of him and is prepared to sanction a deal that would see the 28-year-old earn the most lucrative contract of his career, potentially double what is currently on.

It has been reported on the Football.London website that Chelsea have now joined the chase to try and get a deal done for the Spanish star, but Mundo Deportivo reports that The player is “getting closer and closer” to joining Arsenal despite no agreement between the club and Sociedad

There has been so much speculation about the players that Arsenal could be signing this summer – there is still plenty of time left for ARSENAL to sign Merino if they really want the Spaniard.

He is solid – he would be a good addition to the side for the right money – and he will add some much needed depth for Mikel Arteta – so he would be a good signing, it is as simple as that.

ARTETA WANTS SMITH ROWE STAY –

Mikel Arteta would like to keep Emile Smith-Rowe at Arsenal this summer, according to the latest reports.

Smith Rowe has been plagued by injury over the last two seasons and the arrival of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice has seen the 23-year-old drop down the pecking order in north London.

It’s understood ARSENAL are now prepared to let Smith Rowe leave and the club are listening to offers for the player, who came through the club’s academy before making his first-team debut in 2018

But despite the many reports that Arsenal are very keen to get the midfielder off the books of the club – Sky Sports say the Gunners have rejected approaches from London opponents Fulham and Crystal Palace

Now a report on Goal has claimed that Mikel Arteta would like to keep hold of Smith Rowe – but the club could be forced to sell if the player is desperate to leave for first-team minutes.

The report says: “In an ideal world, Mikel Arteta would keep Emile Smith Rowe. This time last year, he made it clear that he would not be sold & I think his stance would be the same this time around if it was just down to a footballing decision.

“Smith Rowe has a strong desire to be playing regular football, so Arsenal would reluctantly let him leave should a good offer arrive, but at the moment, that offer has not arrived. It’s certainly not a case that Arsenal will be forcing him out of the door.”

The ARSENAL board knows the value of Smith Rowe and will not entertain any offers that do not meet their asking price – but we are fully expecting that there will be a few more offers coming in over the next few weeks.

The bad decision would be to stay at Arsenal and watch his career pass him bye – there are options out there for Smith Rowe that he needs to consider before it is too late.
