Ashworth welcomes NEW signing to Man United – United expect Frenchman to sign – Man United get £87M boost
Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –
Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has shut down links of a move for Viktor Gyokeres, giving Manchester United a better chance of signing him.
Gyokeres has scored 43 goals in 50 outings for Sporting and is one of the form attacking players in European football this term, with many reports in the media suggesting that he could be sold in the coming transfer window.
Europe’s elite are queueing up to prise the Sweden international away from Lisbon after his stunning start to life with Sporting, and Manchester United are one of the clubs that are desperate to delve into that transfer kitty and add a 30 goals a season forward to that attack
Benjamin Sesko seemed to be the number one transfer target for United – but he has reportedly made the decision to snub a move away from RB Leipzig this transfer window and stay put for at least another Bundesliga season.
Man United would want to negotiate a fee in the region of £50m-£60m, but his club are unwilling to let him leave on the cheap and will be demanding his £85 million release clause is met before allowing him to depart the side.
Napoli had been tipped to sign the Sweden international as a replacement from the potentially departing Victor Osimhen, but Manna has poured cold water on the topic.
“Impossible,” he was quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.

The Red Devils need a striker that could give the club different options – they have just signed Joshua Zirkzee so may not need anymore striker signings.
There are plenty of options for Manchester United in the Premier League and we are sure that there are a few strikers that fans would love to see arrive. but we are sure that no more forwards will come to the club and that includes Gyokeres.
UNITED EXPECT YORO TO SIGN –
It has been claimed that Manchester United are expecting that Lille star Leny Yoro will choose a move to Old Trafford rather than Real Madrid
Yoro made 32 appearances in the French top flight last season, scoring twice and keeping 15 clean sheets as Lille finished fourth, and established himself as one of the most promising young centre-backs in European football
Manchester United have lost the experienced Rafa Varane this summer after he decided that he would not be agreeing a new contract at Old Trafford – meaning Erik Ten Hag will need to sign an immediate replacement.
According to Sky Sports, a £42million bid has been agreed in principle with Lille for the teenager to join the Red Devils, as the French giants are ready to cash in on Yoro, 18, ahead of his contract expiring next year.
Reports in Spain insist that the player would prefer to sign for Real Madrid and they are happy to either negotiate a fee with Lille now or wait until 2025 and bring him over as a free agent, but the Sun reports that Man United fully expect the young defender to choose a move to Manchester.

Yoro is a brilliant talent – but if Madrid really wants the lad and the defender wants to make the move to La Liga – then Manchester United should stay away from a possible deal as the lads heart will not be in Manchester.
The Red Devils may want the lad but it seems he wants Madrid – and we would be very surprised to see him make the move to Manchester as his heart will just not be in the move 100 per cent.
ASHWORTH WELCOMES ZIRKZEE –
Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s sporting director has welcomed the summer signing of striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee was one of the stars for Bologna last season that helped the club get into the Champions League this season – with his 12 goals also attracting interest from Seria A giants Inter Milan.
However – Zirkzee, 23, has signed a five-year deal with the option of a further 12 months after United agreed to pay 42.5million euros (around £36.5m), slightly above the Dutch forward’s 40m euros (£34.4m) release clause.
And after seeing the Dutchman make the move to Manchester – Ashworth has opened up and revealed why the club were so determined to sign Zirkzee this window – he told the club website: “Securing a forward to enhance our already strong group of attacking players was a key aim for this summer.
‘We are delighted that we’ve managed to sign a player of Joshua’s calibre this early in the transfer window.
‘Joshua is an outstanding talent who is ready to make an impact for Manchester United. His ability and desire to grow into a world-class player means that he will be a great addition to the squad that we are building for the exciting season ahead and beyond.
‘Having already achieved a significant amount in his career, we will provide Joshua with the perfect platform to reach the next level under the guidance and support of Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff. We look forward to seeing Joshua thrive at Old Trafford over the coming years.”
