Celtic told to not let Arsenal target Edouard leave for less than £40 million this summer
Arsenal target Odsonne Edouard should not be sold for anything less than £40million, according to Celtic legend John Hartson.
There is a feeling that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave the club in the coming weeks, especially as he has failed to agree a new contract, one that has been left on the table for him to sign for months now.
And that means that Arsenal will start eyeing up possible replacements for the 29-goal hitman, with Edouard a player that is valued at just £40 million, but tipped to be a big-time striker in Europe over the next few seasons.
The Frenchman scored a hat-trick on the opening day of the season in the 5-1 win over Hamilton and there has been big talk that the Gunners are ready to swoop in and offer him a move to the Emirates, with the likes of Leicester and Manchester United also linked.
But Hartson has told his former club that Celtic should not look to sell Edouard for anything less this summer transfer window, he was quoted on the SUN: “The manager and board want him to stay, but the club have been known to sell players when the right offer comes in,”
“What would you price him at now? £40million?
“Moussa Dembele went for £20m and Chelsea were looking to pay £70m for him.
“Why would Celtic let Edouard go cheap? If you are going to sell him you need to get top dollar for him.”
If Arsenal do lose Aubameyang, then Edouard would be a very good replacement, the striker has big potential and the ability to score on a regular basis.
And for that £40 million that is being talked about, he could be a real great signing for the club.
