Arsenal FC News: Arteta told to sign £70m midfielder, German to be a Gunner in summer, claims agent, Arsenal get massive Aubameyang boost

Guys here is a roundup of the top Arsenal stories from over the past 24 hours that you may have missed.

Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to make a move and hijack Chelsea’s possible deal for Declan Rice.

The whole world may be gripped by the crazy outbreak of the coronavirus, and football may have been stopped because of the Virus itself, but there has still been alot of transfer speculation in the media about possible summer signings at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard is not fool, he knows that he needs to seriously improve this CHELSEA side over the next few transfer windows in order to get the club from top four chasers, to Premier League contenders, and he needs to add some fresh meat to the side.

Now reports claims Lampard is on the hunt for a defensive midfielder this summer and has identified Rice as the ideal man to come in and possibly take over from Ngolo Kante in the long-run, who is arguably the best holding midfielder in the game.

But Merson thinks Arsenal require a player in his mould if they are to begin competing towards the top of the Premier League once more, and should make a move: “Chelsea have been linked with him, but I don’t know why Arsenal aren’t looking at Declan Rice,” HE TOLD SKY SPORTS

“Arsenal are crying out for a holding midfield player. They don’t need a midfielder who’s going to be on the edge of the opposition box, they need a disciplined defensive
midfielder, who is going to sit in front of the back four and organise the side; one who, when he gets the ball, gives it simple with 10-yard passes.

“It’s such a hard job and that’s why I can’t believe Arsenal aren’t going in for a player like Rice.

“A player like Rice can allow the attacking players to flourish and it gives the central defenders the chance to be better than what they are.

“I don’t care who you are in football, Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Alessandro Costacurta and even a Virgil van Dijk, if you’ve got people running at you left, right and centre every minute, they are going to go past you on occasions.

“Arsenal haven’t really had a disciplined defensive midfielder since Gilberto Silva. Everyone talks about the club never really replacing Patrick Vieira, and of course, but they never replaced Gilberto either.

“There are players in the current team that are meant to do that job but they don’t have the discipline to do it, and that needs addressing.”

Mesut Ozil’s agent insists the German is happy at Arsenal and has no plans to leave this coming summer transfer window.

Mesut Ozil is one of the Gunners biggest players and one of the best number tens in world football, when he is on top form. But he has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past 12 months as his performances in an Arsenal shirt have not matched the wages he was given under Arsene Wenger.

And that has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks that he could actually leave the club, despite claims from the German himself that he will be seeing out his contract at the Emirates, meaning that the Gunners will need to find an adequate replacement for the German star.

Look, We have said it before and we will SAY IT AGAIN! the time has come for Arsenal to cash in on the German and use the money made to buy an adequate replacement that wull not take the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Pundit Charlie Nicholas just does not get why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would leave Arsenal and sign for Manchester United in the summer window.

One a daily basis there seems to be a new club linked with a possible move for the Gunners hitman after rumours broke that he is seriously considering leaving the club at the end of the season if he does not get the £300,000-a-week contract that he reportedly desires.

Aubameyang will have just a season left on his current deal when this season ends and the Gabonese attacker isn’t giving the impression that he wants to stay at the Emirates beyond this summer, and that has opened the door for the likes of United to swoop in and offer him a potential move to Old Trafford.

And with reports suggesting that Ighalo is considering a massive £400,000-a-week contract offer from his Chinese parent club, the need to make a move for a new striker in the summer will once again be on the agenda if Ighalo does not sign a deal with United.

But Speaking to SKY SPORTS, Nicholas does not believe that Aubameyang will be driven by money and so questions the logic of the Gabonese hitman making a reported £50 Million move to Old Trafford: “If Aubameyang wants to leave, you ideally want him out of the Premier League.

“However, he is of a mind and age that I can see the dangers and understand comparisons with Robin van Persie.

“Would he want to be a part of a superstar reload at Manchester United? Is there a great appeal to that?

“If it was Liverpool or Man City I would get it, but Manchester United are miles away from the top two. I do not see the appeal of moving to Old Trafford.

“Would he win the title with United in the next few years? I don’t think so.

“He might not even be in the Champions League if he was to join so what is the real appeal? Is it salary? I don’t think he is that type.”
