Wow! £350k-a-week star ‘wishing’ he was at Arsenal right now – rivals told
Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left wishing he was part of Arsenal ’s title challenge – according to Emmanuel Petit.
After deciding to leave the Gunners just a few windows ago – Aubameyang made the shock decision to come back to the Premier League last summer, as the Blues were desperate to sign a striker.
Aubameyang spent four productive years at the Emirates Stadium, scoring 92 goals in 163 games and helping the Gunners win the FA Cup and reach the Europa League final – and Chelsea had hoped that they could once again get the best out of the striker.
But Aubameyang has once again struggled in the Premier League with Chelsea and all three of his goals came in October as he struggles to rediscover the form that made him one of the best.
While Arsenal are enjoying a sensational season and sitting top of the Premier League – Chelsea are down in 10th and struggling, and Petit believes he must be regretting how his Arsenal career ended.
‘I said at the start of the season when they bought him it looked like a panic buy, Petit told Sporting Post. ‘Aubameyang is still a quality striker but he isn’t what he used to be.
‘I think he lost his passion and I think after his spell at Barcelona he can see what Arsenal are doing without him. What Jesus and Nketiah are doing.
‘Maybe he is thinking if he had the right attitude, he could be part of what is going on there.
‘Now with Chelsea, maybe there is a “curse” with the striker, but Didier Drogba wasn’t cursed – the whole team is not working, there is something wrong at the moment.
‘There aren’t many players playing well for Chelsea right now. Even Mason Mount! I don’t recognize him at the minute.’
