‘Chelsea will respect Hazard decision’ announces Azpilicueta with replacement Pulisic already signed?
Cesare Azpilicueta has admitted that Chelsea players will respect the decision by Eden Hazard to leave the club at the end of the season.
After a tough season for Italian boss Maurizio Sarri, the time has almost come for Chelsea fans to find out whether or not their star man, Hazard, will be packing his bags and leaving the club in the summer window.
It has been reported in the last few days that he has made his decision about whether or not he is staying, with some reports from France even claiming that Real Madrid agreed a £86 million fee with Chelsea for the services of the Belgian.
However, he is still a Chelsea player until the Madrid move comes around and the squad is preparing for the Europa League final at the end of the month, as the Blues face an in-form Arsenal side for the right to be crowned European Champions.
And although Azpilicueta would be disappointed to see the winger leave the club, he has admitted that he Chelsea players will accept his decision, especially as they have his potential replacement Christian Pulisic already joining the club.
Azpilicueta told Sky Sports: “Obviously Eden is a very important player for us.
“We arrived here at the same time and obviously we want him to stay with us – but we have to respect his decision.
“He is a Chelsea player and his mind is only doing well with Chelsea and on lifting the trophy in Baku – and then we will see.”
Hazard has played some of the best football of his career this season for Chelsea and has netted an impressive 26-goals in all competitions, as he helped the Blues reach two finals and finish inside the top four, which is all that was asked of boss Sarri.
But losing one player never really breaks a side and Chelsea will be able to adapt to life without Hazard, especially as they have so many top-class players already at the club and also have Pulisic arriving from Borussia Dortmund.
So even though many will be disappointed to see that he is leaving the club, many will surely wish him the best.
