OFFICIAL Chelsea statement released – Defender has completed summer move!
Chelsea have confirmed the departure of Baba Rahman to Greek side PAOK,
Rahman joined CHELSEA in 2015 from Augsburg for a fee of around £14million, and was a player that the Blues believed could have a bright future at Stamford Bridge.
He made 23 appearances across all competitions in his debut season, and did look impressive at times, but that would be the last time he ever played for the Blues, with a series of loan spells across Europe to follow.
Now the Blues have decided to cut ties with the player and announced that he has now left the club.
‘We wish Baba well as he begins the next chapter of his career,’ a short statement on the club’s website read on Monday.
RIGHT TIME TO LEAVE?
Baba Rahman should have departed Chelsea many seasons ago – to be at the club for eight years and play just 23 times is crazy – his career has just seemingly passed him by.
This is a good move for the man to make as he should now be settled in one place rather than getting sent all over the place – PAOK will give him the football that he desires.
Some CHELSEA fans will be shocked that he was still at the club – but he will not be any loss to the squad as he has never been part of the set-up at Stamford Bridge.
But as we said, this is a good move for the man to make as he needed to leave the Blues in order to salvage some kind of playing career.
