Bak and out! Chelsea FC confirm transfer deal is done as £40 million man makes move

AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea fc on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The 23-year-old France international joined from Monaco last summer for £40m and started 25 Premier League games in his first season at the club, but he will not be part of Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea plans after the arrival of Jorginho from Napoli.

Milan have confirmed Bakayoko will be presented to the Italian media in a press conference on Friday afternoon.

Chelsea announced on their official website: “The 23-year-old now makes the temporary switch to the Serie A side who are managed by Gennaro Gattuso and are competing in the Europa League this season.”

Bakayoko was not in the squad for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Huddersfield as goals from debutant Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Pedro secured a 3-0 win.

Here is what we think.

Sarri has brought in both Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic this transfer window and obviously Bakayoko was the man that would be let go after a disappointing first season in the Premier League.

Bakayoko looked off the pace, a step behind his Premier League team-mates and out of place after his £40 million transfer last summer, a fee which is well above what he is actually worth.

But he now has the chance to prove himself over in Seria A, which is a league which is more his level and could actually be a real star at Milan, if he gets the games that they have obviously promised.

At the end of the day, he may be a Chelsea fc player, but he will most certainly not be missed by Blues fans who became fed up with his performances last season.
