Forget Spurs and Liverpool as £600,000-a-week superstar told to sign with Manchester United

John Barnes reckons Gareth Bale should join Manchester United this summer despite links Liverpool and Spurs.

The Wales international has often been cast as a scapegoat by supporters, while falling down manager Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order – meaning that the likes of United have been handed a chance to try and bring him back to the Premier League.

Representatives of a man who was once the most expensive player on the planet have maintained his contract through to 2022 in the Spanish capital will be honoured, but that is no longer the case heading into the new season.

The Welshman has been opening up recently about all the transfer speculation surrounding his future, and has admitted that he tried to leave Madrid last season, and has even admitted that he is open to a move back to England.

Now former Liverpool star Barnes has opened up and told the Welshman that he should look to join Manchester United this summer, Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “If Gareth Bale was to come to the Premier League, I couldn’t imagine Liverpool or Chelsea wanting to sign him, especially from a financial point of view.

“In terms of the way he plays, Manchester City would be best suited for him, but they aren’t going to want to sign him.

‘Tottenham Hotspur is a club who he has played for before but is he the type of player that Jose Mourinho wants, I don’t think so.

“Manchester United is probably the best club for him, but it is whether they want him despite considering his age and the salary he comes with.”

Bale is a superstar, but would he be worth that £70 million plus that £600,000-a-week wage that he is currently on?

That is the big question United need to ask themselves before making any kind of move.
