Defender wanted at Arsenal, Xhaka gets replaced, Madrid keen to wrap up shock Arsenal deal after Emery completes £27 million signing, Zidane has £80 million transfer message about possible Gunners deal,
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews.
BETTER DEFENDER WANTED AT ARSENAL.
Arsenal have been told that they should have signed a better defender than David Luiz in the summer transfer window.
Unia Emery was linked with some of the games biggest players over the summer and it looked like Gunners fans were all set to see a world class defender come in and help shore up that dodgy back line that the club currently has.
But despite all the rumours, despite all the speculation and despite all the money that the club has, Emery shock many in the media by landing David Luiz from Chelsea in a deal that would only cost the club £8 million.
However, the Brazilians arrival has only made the Gunners back-line worse and he has already contributed towards some of Arsenal’s poor defensive showings this season, with his other performances looking nothing more than a player that is not capable of playing at the top level any longer.
And former Spurs star Tim Sherwood reckons the Arsenal defence hasn’t gotten any better following the arrival of Luiz and he feels that former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill would have done a much better job than the Brazilian.
“Defending is an art as well,” SHERWOOD SAID
“I always felt at the beginning of the season when I looked at Lacazette, Aubameyang, Ozil, Saka who they brought in, they brought [Nicolas] Pepe in, that they might have enough firepower.
“But unfortunately you can’t score four goals to win every football match, especially when you defend like that. Their problem was obvious to everybody. Not only the people who go to the Emirates, the people who watch Premier League football know that Arsenal cannot defend.
“It wasn’t a hard job to go and find better defenders than what they already had. An easy job, just go out and do it. Try and patch it up, find something.
“Gary Cahill, he was an obvious choice. We’re talking about someone who’s a Premier League winner, a leader-type character, and they end up going and getting David Luiz.
“Now, I agree, good value [for] David Luiz, but go and find someone better.
“They needed to do that, they haven’t done it. The recruitment’s terrible, and at the moment they’re getting results that they deserve.
“Wolves deserved that point – they deserved more, actually.”
ZIDANE HAS SHOCK BALE MESSAGE!
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has a message for the likes of Arsenal about the future of Gareth Bale.
Now Bale has been in the headlines for all the wrong kind of reasons over the past 12 months as all indications suggested that he was finished at the Bernabeu, that fans wanted him out, and most importantly Zidane was keen to offload him in the coming transfer window.
There was even talk in the summer window that a number of clubs were prepared to offer around £60 million to try and get a deal done for Bale, but the Welshman decided that he wanted to stay and fight for his Madrid future, especially since he is getting a nice big wage at the Spanish giants.
But according to reports on Spanish publication AS, Bale has now decided that he wants out of Madrid during the January transfer window and is seeking a move away, with a move back to the Premier League and a lucrative switch to La Liga a possible destination for the tripe Champions League winner.
However, in another twist, Zidane has come out and rubbished those reports and revealed that he actually wants the Welshman to stay, telling the SKY SPORTS WEBSITE: “Everybody is saying I don’t want (Gareth) Bale here and I want him to leave in January. That’s nonsense.
“People can talk about me, about what I do, but nobody can put fake words on my mouth.
“Of course, we cannot have the same bond with everybody but I’ve never had any problem with Gareth, even after what happened during last summer when supposedly he was leaving.
“This is the situation: he’s here, and I’m happy because the player is very good.”
“So yes, I want Gareth to stay here with us until the end of the season. That’s very clear.”
There has been some shock reports in the media regarding the future of Arsenal signing William Saliba.
Breaking into Saint-Etienne’s first-team in September, Saliba had an outstanding debut season in France and caught the attentions of the Premier League’s elite with his performances, with reports both Manchester United and Tottenham were keen on a transfer deal.
ARSENAL boss Unai Emery was been keeping close tabs on Saliba’s progress transfer speculation, and in the end the Gunners boss decided that he had seen enough to spend close to £30 million on the young defender, as he looked to improve his squad in a number of areas on the pitch. But despite not even putting on a shirt, Arsenal fans will be shocked at the latest on their £27 million signing! Watch the video guys.
XHAKA STRIPPED OF ARSENAL CAPTAINCY!
Unai Emery has revealed that Granit Xhaka has been stripped of the Captaincy at Arsenal.
Xhaka’s substitution during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace was greeted by sarcastic cheers and the Gunners captain responded by throwing his arms in the air and cupping his ears and the 27-year-old was then seen mouthing ‘f*** off’ at the home fans before he removed his shirt and stormed down the tunnel.
Ans his actions during that game has not led to a lot of speculation in the media about whom could be the next captain at the club, as his actions was that not of a man that should be leading this side, and with not many leaders at the Emirates, there were numerous calls for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to now be Captain of the club.
And after Emery told Xhaka on Tuesday morning he was no longer part of the Gunners’ leadership group, fans found out that Aubameyang, along with Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin will be the four Captains of the Gunners.
“I think we need to take time with him, first to protect him and also to be calm and training with us every day. But I was speaking with him this morning and also I decided he’s not one of the captains in our group and I decided that and I told him this morning,” Emery told Arsenal’s website.
“We have now Aubameyang, Hector, Lacazette and Ozil – they are the four captains, and first is now Aubameyang,” confirmed Emery.
“If you do something like what he did in the Palace match, I don’t think you can have too much argument [against losing the captaincy].
“But l think coming back without being the captain might help him and help his game.”
