Boss announces pure delight after Arsenal January deal is OFFICIALLY announced!
Middlesborough coach Chris Wilder has admitted his delight that Florian Balogun has agreed a move from Arsenal
The 20-year-old striker has not featured in the Premier League since August but remains a part of Arsenal’s long-term plans and signed a new contract in April which ties him to the club until 2025.
Balogun was also the subject of interest from Europe, with French Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne among the clubs who were monitoring his situation.
But in the end, it was Boro who managed to complete a January deal for the talented young man and Wilder, who previously tried to sign him for his former club Sheffield United, was pleased that the Arsenal man has signed for his current club.
Middlesbrough will complete the loan signing of Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun today. Middlesbrough will pay a loan fee of around £1m, will cover 15% of Balogun’s salary & manager Chris Wilder told the player he will be used as a central striker. [@ChrisWheatley_] #afc pic.twitter.com/9623Mk3cbK

“We’re delighted to get Flo in. He’s a player I’ve known about for a long time, and we identified him as someone who could come in and improve us in the second half of the season.
He continued, “He has great movement, good pace, and he’s a natural finisher. We’re looking forward to working with him.”
Balogun underwent a medical on Tuesday ahead of finalsing his move to the Championship side, who will pay a portion of his wages.
Wilder will now hope that his new recruit pushes them into the play-off positions of the Championship. And the Gunners will be hoping that Balogun gets the game time he needs to help with his development.
