Big news as Barcelona eye staggering swoop to take Mikel Arteta away from Arsenal

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has identified Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as a potential replacement for current Barca boss Ronald Koeman.

Arteta has done a pretty decent job at the Emirates since he took over the club last season, and is not starting to get his side firing on all cylinders as they seek to get back into a top four spot and add some silverware to the cabinet.

It is no secret that he has had his tough times at the club, had some bad results, but he is one of the most highly-rated young managers in the game, and now he is on the radar of Laporta

Laporta is one of the favourites to win the presidential race and hold a second spell in charge of the Catalan club, and reports on the METRO website have claimed that he is looking to replicate the previous successes by bringing Arteta to the Camp Nou.

It seems like Barca really want to bring back Pep Guardiola, but his extension at Manchester City killed any hope of that, while Club legend Xavi has also reportedly ruled himself out of a Camp Nou return, so Arteta is now being targeted as the man that will bring back success back to the club.

It is believed that Barca believe that Arteta will be a great coach one day, but a move to Barcelona this summer might be too soon for him, and it would be a massive shock to see him depart the club.

However, if the reports are true, how could he turn down a possible move to Barcelona? It would be a stunning opportunity for the Spaniard.
