Emery takes notice! Barca send Arsenal message and inform Emery over Dembele transfer status

Barcelona have now told Arsenal that £100 million transfer target Ousmane Dembele is not for sale at any price.

The Frenchman was seemingly set for a summer exit away from the Nou Camp after failing to make the kind of impact many had hoped, with the Emirates his preferred destination.

Gunners boss Unai Emery was reportedly ready to make the move for the winger, as he looked for one more big signing, but the hierarchy decided that this summer would not be the time they made their move for Dembele.

Now Spanish publication Sport have claimed Barca have informed Dembele, who scored the winning goal against in the Spanish Super Cup, of their stance and have no intention of selling him this summer or this season for any other matter.

Reports claim Barca believe he could prove to be a key player under Ernesto Valverde this term, as they look to challenge Real Madrid for the Champions League crown.

Here is what we think.

Dembele to Arsenal was never really going to happen as paying £100 million for an injury prone player that has not justified his £136 million move to Barca is not seen a good bit of business by the hierarchy.

They have a habit of being tight when it comes to transfer deals and that is why so many transfers take so long to complete, they have a set price and if clubs want more, they can get lost.

But Arsenal missed a trick in not signing Dembele as he could have been the perfect addition to the squad, and a better quality replacement for Alex Iwobi.

Iwobi may be hard-working a good squad member, but he doesn’t have that finishing touch top players needs to play at the very highest level of the game and Gunners fans will be hoping Dembele doesn’t get a real shot in the first team this season, as they would love a bargain move for the player next summer.
