Wow! Italian International Barella opens up and officially announces talks to make Chelsea move held

Italy International Nicolo Barella has claimed that he held concrete talks with Chelsea last January about a move to Stamford Bridge.

Barella has become one of the most sought after midfielders in Serie A over the past few seasons with some stunning performances for Cagliari, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal just a few clubs that have all shown a reported interest in trying to get a deal done

But in the summer he agreed to link up with Antonio Conte at Inter Milan on an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, as the big clubs were not prepared to meet his high price tag.

But Reflecting on the speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge, Barella told Gazzetta dello Sport that he held talks about a possible move to London, saying: ‘Chelsea had been looking to sign me in January, the negotiations were concrete.

‘At Cagliari I said: “It is not an easy time for the team, I will stay until the end of the season. Then I will make a decision”.’

Barella has made a fine start to his career in Milan, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 13 appearances this season and discussing his relationship with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, the Italy international added: ‘He [Conte] has a different attitude, a way of talking to you that gives you something new.

‘I’d die for him, that applies to all his players. And that makes the difference. Do you see how Conte’s teams run? It’s not only because they are well prepared. It is the outcome of what he puts in your head.

‘Years ago I wrote all my goals down. The first was to get to Serie A with Cagliari: I succeeded. Then there was also the one to wear the Inter shirt: done.’

Chelsea have been linked with so many players over the past 12 months that it has become difficult to keep up with who is coming and going, but Barella is a solid performer that does have the ability to make an impact in the Premier League.

He is at Inter right now and enjoying his football, but Chelsea will once again be able to sign players at the end of the season, meaning that an offer could be made if Barella does not stay in Milan
