Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that West Ham have made no progress regarding their hopes of signing Man United ace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bassika joined Man United for a fee of £50 million three years ago after making a real name for himself in the Premier League – but he has not yet been able to become the signing that the club had hoped for

It was suggested in the summer that West Ham were keen to take him to London Stadium on loan or on a more permanent basis – as David Moyes wanted a bit more cover for that area of the pitch

Wan-Bissaka remained with Man United in the end though, after new boss Erik Ten Hag failed to sign a replacement – but it seems that he is no longer in the plans of the former Ajax boss.

Fabrizio Romano claims that West Ham have actually held talks to sign him – but have hit a brick wall: “There have been no major developments yet on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future.

“Wolves, Crystal Palace and West Ham had talks to ask for information on the conditions of the deal in December, but it’s still early stages.

“Man United will let him go if they receive a good proposal and if they find a good backup option for Dalot; at the moment, it hasn’t happened yet.

But according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus – West Ham should not make a move for Wan-Bassika in the January window and should instead look to sign him at the end of the season

“Him going to West Ham? Maybe not, for me,” McManus recently told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“West Ham need defenders in, central defenders especiallyWan-Bissaka does have a good tackle on him but if you are signing him you are signing him to be a wing-back.

“He’s at his best near the opposition box so I’m not sure how much help he will actually give to the defence.

“He would cost a bit of money too so if they are looking at him, I think they should be looking to spend big elsewhere.

“If he still wants a move in the summer then that is when to go for him.”
