Director makes statement and gives Chelsea boost in bid to sign Ligue 1 target

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl ruled out any possibility of signing injured Harry Kane’s back-up in the January transfer window, which will come as a boost to the likes of CHELSEA who are interested in Lille Star Jonathan David

The Bundesliga leaders lost 2-1 at the Mewa Arena, with Mainz star Lee Jae-sung grabbing a brace before Leroy Sane netted a consolation goal with three minutes to go.

It marked Bayern’s second loss in four games – the matches they’ve had to cope without striker Kane. The England captain had to be substituted in the first half of his side’s 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on December 1.

He was forced off with a knock, which has since been confirmed as thigh injury and there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that a move for Lille star Jonathan David could happen in the winter window.

Davis is one of the most coveted young strikers in the game right now and a player that has been on the agenda of a number of Premier League sides, with Chelsea one of the clubs that are ready to open talks in January about a potential move.

Now Bayern have given those chasing clubs a massive boost by admitting that they will not be looking to sign a cover for Kane when the winter window opens up in just a few weeks time – Speaking to journalist Michel Schroer, Eberl Said: “We will not sign a backup for Harry Kane in January.

‘We have great financial numbers, but those numbers come from the fact that we always think economically.”

Losing Kane is massive for Bayern because he is their biggest source of goals, so many are hoping that he gets back to playing very soon. In terms of not signing a cover for the big man, it makes sense as he normally plays most of the games.
