Spaniard has been tipped to make stunning move to Tottenham in summer
Rafa Benitez would ‘not be the worst shout’ to become Tottenham’ new manager, according to Peter Crouch.
After Tottenham made the big decision to sack Jose Mourinho after a disappointing time at the club, the search is now on to bring in an established manager that will help the club win some trophies and get back to the very top.
But With Spurs falling short in their pursuit of Julian Nagelsmann, who is joining Bayern at the end of the season, and with Erik ten Hag signing a contract extension with Ajax, there has been some reports in the media that Benitez could be a man that Spurs turn too next
And the 61-year-old, who recently parted ways with Chinese Super League club Dalian Professional could be a very good option for Tottenham, according to what Crouch believes.
Crouch, who played for Benitez at Liverpool and had two spells at Spurs, was asked if his former manager would be a good fit as he took questions from Daily Mail readers in his ask Crouchie column.
“I could not have any more admiration for Rafa than I do,” he said. “The man is a football obsessive and when I see pictures of him walking his dogs, I expect them to be in formation!”
We could see why hiring Benitez would be tempting for Tottenham, he has proven himself in the game on many occasions. But if the club are looking to close the gap on both Manchester giants and Chelsea next season, then he is not the man for them.
Tottenham are going to need someone to come in and revolutionise the way they play and improve the players the club have in the squad.
