Star sends message after completing Chelsea move – Blues announce 6ft 7in deal done – Shock Sterling message sent
Chelsea announce Bergstrom deal – Beach sends message – Sterling told to snub Blues move in Chelsea news of the say –
Chelsea have confirmed that Lucas Bergstrom has joined Peterborough for the next 12 months in order to get some game time
Standing at 6ft 7, the 19-year-old signed for Chelsea from Turun Palloseura in his native Finland during the 2018/19 season and has been a regular within the Academy squads at Stamford Bridge
The Finnish goalkeeper was part of Chelsea’s Premier League 25-man squad last season as the fourth choice shot-stopper at Stamford Bridge as the coaches were impressed with his performances
He is a man that Chelsea have big hope that he will eventually develop enough to challenge for the number one spot in the coming seasons – but they know sitting on the bench will not allow him to do that
And they made the very smart decision to let the big unit leave the club for the next 12 months in order to get some game time and play some minutes at a very good lower league side
Chelsea announced on the club website: ‘Academy goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom will spend next season on loan at Peterborough United.
‘The 19-year-old Finland Under-21 international (pictured above), who joined Chelsea during the 2018/19 season, made 15 appearances for our development squad last season and was an unused sub for the men’s first team for the home match against Zenit in the Champions League group stage.
‘Peterborough will be playing in League One this season having been relegated from the Championship.’
And after seeing the deal get announced – Posh boss Grant McCann was pleased to secure his services and was thankful to the Premier League side for allowing the move to happen.
“Lucas is very highly-rated at Chelsea. He is commanding, a very good shot-stopper and extremely aggressive from crosses and good with his feet. I must give huge thanks to Carlo Cudicini and Chelsea for trusting us in developing Lucas further and we can’t wait to work with him,” McCann said.
Bergström will link-up with his new team-mates on the 22nd June when the Posh squad return for pre-season testing. There will be an interview with Bergström on his arrival at the idverde Training Ground.
The lad is massive and definitely has the potential to become a top-class stopper if he makes the right career choices
He may want to be at Chelsea right now – but this is a very smart move to make as he will get some much needed first-team minutes
Chelsea will be keeping a very close eye on his performances
Beach issues message –
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of exciting young stopper Eddie Beach from Premier League rivals Southampton
The 18-year-old was part of Saints’ Premier League South U18 title-winning team – and is a player that the clubs coaches think very highly of – and had hoped to be part of the first team side in the coming seasons
But with Southampton understood to be close to sealing a deal to sign Republic of Ireland international Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City – and experienced goalkeeper Willy Caballero reportedly agreeing a new one-year deal with the club – his chances of getting into that first-team side have dimmed
That allowed Chelsea to swoop in and offer him a stunning move to Chelsea – where he will get to work with some of the best coaches in the Premier League and possibly work his way up to playing with some of the best players in world football
Jim Fraser, Chelsea’s assistant head of youth development and head of youth recruitment, told the club’s website: “We are very pleased to bring Eddie to the club
“He is a talented goalkeeper with good potential and will join our development squad for the coming season.”
In a post on his Instagram which finished with red and white emojis, the former New Forest Football Academy player said: “Just want to say a massive thanks to @southamptonfc for the past 3 and a half years.
Particularly all the staff, teammates and coaches who have made it such a memorable experience.
“It’s been an amazing journey and I have learnt so much from everyone within the club. Now its time to look at the next chapter of my career. Good luck boys!”
It could also be a massive mistake as he will have a very hard time of it trying to break into that Chelsea first-team – so many young talents have been signed – then loaned out and then sold because they werent good enough
He may never actually break into that Chelsea first-team in the coming seasons – and may just be sent out on loan – like many others
But as we said – he must be excited about the move and will hope that his dream will one day come true
Shock Sterling message sent –
Raheem Sterling has been urged not to join Chelsea this summer transfer window from man City – by Trevor Sinclair.
Sterling is a player that has won countless trophies during his time with Man City – has scored 131 goals for the Premier League Champions and is easily one of the best players in the English game
However – as Pep Guardiola looks to shake things up for next season – there are a number of players that the Spaniard is willing to let leave this summer – and Sterling is one of them
That has led to constant speculation in the media that Chelsea may be looking to try and secure a deal for Sterling – as they seek to add some more goals to an attack that struggled last season.
But now – Sterling has been told to not make a move to Chelsea as they will not be as competitive as Man City and Liverpool next season – He told talkSPORT when asked if Sterling should swap Man City for the Blues: “I would say no because I don’t think Chelsea will be competitive with Man City and Liverpool next season.
“They’ve lost players, the club is in a transitional phase where they’ve lost a lot of players and they’ve got to do a lot of rebuilding.”
Sterling brings pace – skill and goals to an attack – and that is what Chelsea are lacking right now
They have a number of exciting players at the club – but if they want to close the gap on Man City and Liverpool – then they need to start signing the best players when they come onto the market
So if they do manage to sign Sterling and do manage to get him back into the habit of scoring goals – then they will have a very fearsome player on their hands that other teams would get worried about
Chelsea are a massive club that always challenge for trophies – but getting past Liverpool and Man City for all those titles will be a massive ask
