Arsenal star Beth Mead receives support from fellow WSL players after injury

Arsenal star Beth Mead has received an outpouring of support from fellow footballers after suffering a serious injury

Mead helped England win Euro 2022 last summer, earning the Golden Boot and the Player of the Tournament awards and She was also voted BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year and was runner-up in the 2022 Ballon d’Or

She is one of the main reasons why the Gunners ladies started the season in fine fashion and sat top of the WSL before losing to Manchester United ladies at the weekend in a shock result.

Mead sustained the injury late in Saturday’s Women’s Super League loss to United at Emirates Stadium last weekend.

Mead shared a statement on Twitter, where she expressed her devastation at getting injured.

“Obviously heartbroken by the news of my injury, unfortunately these things are part of the game.

“But I’ll be working hard to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. For now, I’ll be Arsenal and England’s biggest fan.

“Thanks so much for all the love and support.”

In response, a number of players shared their support, including Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas and Chelsea star Sam Kerr.

Kerr replied to Mead and wrote: “Sorry to hear, get back soon.”

Putellas, who is also out injured with an ACL injury right now, echoed Kerr’s words and said: “Be Strong @bmeado9, we will be back better.”

The official Lionesses account offered their support for the Euro 2022 hero as well.

“We know you’ll come back from this even stronger, @bmeado9,” they said.

Mead is one of the best womens players on the game and this is a massive blow for the Arsenal – many people will just be hoping that he returns sooner rather than later as she will be missed.
