Big man feels great after move – Man United in talks sign game-changer forward – United board told sign £42M star

Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Radek Vitak, Endrick and Christian Romero.

Middlesbrough have completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Radek Vitek from Manchester United in a deal that could eventually be worth £14 million, bringing an end to the Czech youngster’s time at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old has agreed to join the Championship club after an impressive season-long loan spell at Bristol City, where his performances established him as one of the division’s most highly regarded young goalkeepers.

The transfer is understood to involve an initial £7 million payment, with a further £7 million available to Manchester United through performance-related add-ons. United have also negotiated a series of protections as part of the agreement, including a 35 per cent sell-on clause, matching rights and a buy-back option.

Vitek joined Manchester United from Czech club Sigma Olomouc in 2020 and progressed through the club’s academy, playing a key role in the Under-18 side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2022.

He subsequently gained senior experience through loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Austrian club Blau-Weiss Linz before moving to Bristol City for the 2025-26 campaign

He is Boro’s seventh signing of the transfer window with the Teessiders having already recruited the likes of Jeremy Sarmiento, Myles Peart-Harris and Will Lankshear over the summer.

“It feels great to be here. This is a new challenge for me and I’m really excited to be a Boro player,” Vitek told the Middlesbrough website.

“The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go. I’m delighted to now be part of that.

“The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League. I think everyone at the club has that mindset and I want the same thing. Now I just can’t wait to get started.”

UNITED HOLD ENDRICK TALKS

Manchester United have reportedly held talks over a potential move for Real Madrid forward Endrick after the Brazilian’s representatives contacted Premier League clubs about his future.

The 20-year-old is understood to be considering his options after concerns over his prospects of securing regular first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu. His representatives have reportedly sounded out a number of English clubs, with United among those to have discussed the player’s situation.

Endrick joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras in a high-profile transfer and was regarded as one of the brightest young talents in world football. However, his development at the Spanish giants has been disrupted by limited opportunities, prompting him to spend the second half of last season on loan at Lyon.

The Brazil international impressed in France, contributing goals and assists during his spell and subsequently earning a place in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. Despite that progress, competition for places at Madrid has intensified following the arrival of young forward Yan Diomande and the signing of Carlos Espi, while Vinicius Junior has also committed his future to the club.

Those developments have reportedly led Endrick and his camp to reassess his situation, with England emerging as his preferred destination should he leave Madrid this summer.

Manchester United are not alone in monitoring the situation. Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Fulham have all reportedly held conversations regarding the forward.

Real Madrid’s position could prove decisive, however. Reports indicate that president Florentino Perez remains reluctant to give up on Endrick and would prefer to send him out on another straight loan rather than sanction a permanent transfer.

That stance could complicate negotiations with United. Manchester United and several of their Premier League rivals are reportedly only prepared to seriously consider a deal if it includes an option to buy, while Madrid currently favour a temporary move without such a clause.

Endrick previously spent the latter part of the 2025-26 campaign with Lyon after making only limited appearances for Real Madrid. The club officially confirmed that initial loan agreement in December 2025.

For Manchester United, the possibility of bringing in Endrick represents an intriguing opportunity to add one of Brazil’s most highly rated young forwards to their attack. A permanent deal appears difficult under Madrid’s current stance, but discussions over a potential move are reportedly continuing.

FANS WANTS ROMERO

Manchester United fans have made their feelings clear on social media amid reports the club could consider a late attempt to hijack Cristian Romero’s proposed move from Tottenham Hotspur to Atletico Madrid.

Romero is attracting serious interest from Atletico, with the Spanish side continuing to pursue the Tottenham captain. Reports have also linked Arsenal with the Argentina international, although a move to Tottenham’s north London rivals would be difficult to negotiate.

But the possibility of United entering the race has sent sections of the Red Devils fanbase into a frenzy.

Supporters have been quick to call on the club’s hierarchy to make a move, with many viewing Romero as exactly the sort of aggressive, experienced centre-back they want at Old Trafford.

One Manchester United fan said the club should simply “get the deal done”, while another argued that Romero’s mentality would give United’s defence a completely different edge.

Another supporter urged United to “hijack Atletico before it’s too late”, while a further reaction described Romero as a “proper Manchester United defender” because of his combative style.

The excitement has also centred on the possibility of Romero playing alongside Lisandro Martinez.

One fan imagined the two Argentina internationals forming a partnership at the heart of United’s defence, while another said the prospect of seeing “Cuti and Licha” together would be enough to get supporters excited about the new season.

Other supporters have focused on Romero’s leadership. With the defender having captained Tottenham and established himself as an important member of Argentina’s squad, fans believe he could bring greater authority to United’s back line.

One reaction effectively called for United to forget the rumours and make an offer immediately, while another suggested that allowing Atletico to sign him without attempting to compete would be a missed opportunity.

The mood among enthusiastic supporters has been summed up by reactions along the lines of: “If Romero is available, United have to sign him.”

Another fan argued that United need defenders who are willing to “fight for every ball”, identifying Romero as a player who could provide that mentality.

There has also been excitement about Romero’s experience at the highest level. Supporters have pointed to his World Cup-winning pedigree with Argentina and his years playing in the Premier League as reasons why he could make an immediate impact.

One fan said Manchester United should “stop watching and start negotiating”, while another called Romero the kind of signing that could “change the mentality” of the defence.

Some supporters have gone even further, suggesting that a Romero-Martinez partnership could become one of the Premier League’s most aggressive centre-back pairings.

“Imagine these two together,” was the sentiment behind one reaction, while another supporter suggested that opponents would “hate playing against that defence”.

Not every United fan is convinced, however. Some have questioned whether another centre-back should be a priority and pointed to Romero’s disciplinary record and injury concerns.

Romero has developed a reputation for his aggressive approach, and he has also endured disciplinary problems during his Tottenham career. He was sent off against United earlier this year, while his confrontational style has regularly made him a talking point.

For those supporters who want the deal, though, those concerns have done little to dampen the excitement.

The message from the most enthusiastic section of the United fanbase is straightforward: if there is genuinely an opportunity to beat Atletico Madrid to Romero, they want Manchester United to take it
