Boss gives Liverpool green light to sign Midfielder – Liverpool to make Seria A move – Reds wants £75M star
Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you could have missed this morning –
Liverpool are once again very interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace – it has been claimed.
Despite all the focus on the Euros right now – there is still alot of speculation surrounding the players that Arne Slot will look to sign during the summer, especially as the new LIVERPOOL boss needs to stay in his job for more than one season
That has led to some rumours in the media which have claimed that Liverpool and Newcastle are both ready to battle it out for the signature of Guehi – who has been impressing at Palace last season, and impressed for England at the Euros.
And adding a new defender to the squad is high up on things to do in the transfer window as Liverpool knows that he needs to replace Joel Matip after the big defender decided to leave the club once his contract ends at the end of the month.
Slot is keen to rival Newcastle for the signature of Guehi with Crystal Palace ready to demand £75 million ($96m) for the England centre-back. The Reds could also lose Guehi’s Three Lions team-mate Joe Gomez as part of a mega deal to land Magpies forward Anthony Gordon.
And reporter Iomie Stanley thinks that signing Guehi would be a wise move for Liverpool, he told icfootballnews:‘Marc Guehi would be a great signing for LIVERPOOL
‘He’s been knocking on the door of the top clubs for a few seasons now. He’s English, he’s young with good technical ability on the ball and he’s quick so he’s a modern centre back.
‘He’s decent enough in the air to cope and he’s got a great attitude. He’s a good character around the dressing room and is ready for that next step in his career.’
PEDRO NETO GREEN LIGHT –
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has revealed he’s eager to keep Liverpool linked Pedro Neto at Molineux this summer, but wont force him to stay at the club
Neto was reportedly keen to complete a move to one of the big boys at the start of the transfer window, and the Reds have been constantly linked with a move for the player that is valued at £50 million
But even though O’Neill has claimed that he wants to keep Neto at the club – he insists he the club won’t stand in the Portugal international’s way if LIVERPOOL or another club table a “massive bid” for his services.
He told the E&S podcast: “I know how good he is, and I know how well he would do at a big club.
Obviously I want our team here to be unbelievably successful. So I’m hoping that he stays.
“I think so (there’s a chance he stays). There’s nothing going on at this moment from anybody. He’s in a good spot, I’ve spoke to him about how we’re going to play and how it suits him and what a big part he’ll play in it.
“But of course, we’re all grown-ups while you’re having them conversations.
“If a massive bid comes from a top club then no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way.
“I’m confident that he will be here. Because we haven’t had anything really, that makes the club think that he won’t be. But of course, a lot of business can be done late.”

If LIVERPOOL are looking to sign a proven Premier League player that can add goals, assists and creativity to the side – then spending £50 million on trying to sign Pedro Neto could be a very good decision to make over the next few weeks.
LIVERPOOL STILL WANTS KOOPMEINERS –
Liverpool are still prepared to submit a bid to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
There is also alot of speculation that a number of players will be brought in – and there have been some reports that Koopmeiners is a player that he would like to bring to Merseyside.
Although LIVERPOOL improved their midfield last summer – the rumours that the Reds could see a few more stars depart the club in the coming weeks means that they will need to sign some ready-made replacements – and Koopmeiners is on the list.
According to reports from Italy, the Reds are prepared to make a “substantial offer” in an effort to sign Koopmeiners this summer, Manchester United are also in the running to try and sign Koopmeiners.
It has been stated that an offer in the region of between €60 million and €70 million (£51m-£60m) could be made by both Liverpool and Man United.
Atalanta president Antonio Percassi recently opened up on the future of Teun Koopmeiners, Asked whether he’d take £50m for Koopmeiners, he told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Only if it was consistent with the strategy required for a provincial club which must always have its accounts in order.
“If you make a deal, it is because you have an equivalent replacement.
“We are prepared to sell key players for Atalanta, if there is a parachute.”
And amid all the speculation – Kevin Strootman recently come out and backed his international team-mate to make a big move: “Koopmeiners and Zirkzee are doing very well,” Strootman told Radio TV Serie A, as transcribed by Tuttomercatoweb.
“Atalanta and Bologna are teams to be treated with great respect. I read that many top clubs would like them, they will also have their ambitions.
“They are players with extra quality and I hope they will also show it at the European Championship.
“I think after that they can choose wherever they want to go, I’m sure they are ready for a big leap.”
