Manchester United have revealed that they have completed the signing of PSG star Manuel Ugarte and ended months of transfer speculation on whether he would make the move to Manchester.

Erik Ten Hag has made some big signings this summer window and added players to the side that will make a real difference in their attempts to get back challenging for that Premier League title.

Ugarte is a player that Ten Hag has wanted all summer long and Manchester United have been working on a deal with PSG for months now – and the club have finally got their man.

United posted: ‘Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Manuel Ugarte has joined the club, subject to registration. The Uruguay international has signed a contract until June 2029, with the option to extend for a further year.

‘Last season Ugarte, 23, won the league and cup double with Paris Saint-Germain before playing every game at Copa América and being named in the team of the tournament, taking his tally of international caps to 22.

‘Since the start of the 2022/23 season Ugarte has averaged the second highest number of tackles per 90 minutes in Europe’s major leagues.’

Dan Ashworth, Manchester United sporting director, said: “Signing Manuel was another of our primary targets for this summer. He is among the very best ball-winning midfield players in the world and has an excellent record at both club and international level. His qualities, experience and passion will be a great complement to our strong group of midfielders.
