Manchester United Told £80M midfielder ‘Ideal Replacement’ For Departing Casemiro

Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is the player Manchester United should look to sign when the summer transfer window opens up, according to former star Wes brown.

Under Michael Carrick, Manchester United look like a side that is capable of getting into those Champions League places by the end of the season, meaning that the club will need to improve key areas of the pitch.

That has led to all sorts of speculation that Manchester United chiefs are very much interested in adding Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson to the side as a possible replacement for the departing Casemiro.

But amid all the speculation and rumours, Brown has said Wharton as the ‘ideal replacement’ for departing Casemiro: ‘United should be looking to sign Adam Wharton in the summer, he’d be a brilliant replacement for Casemiro,’ Brown told BetWright football betting.

‘I love him as a player, and he deserves a move at this point of his career. Casemiro has had an excellent season and has been a great servant to the club.

‘The fans love him, but when your time comes, you respect that and you leave. I’m sure he will carry on doing an excellent job elsewhere, but I’d be looking at Wharton as an ideal replacement.

‘You’d have the benefit of Wharton knowing the Premier League and playing for his country. I know he would cost a lot of money, but he would be the man for me.’

Speaking to Sky Sports in October, Wharton made no secret of his ambitions to one day play on the grandest stages in the Champions League.

Asked if he had set himself any individual goals, the ex-Blackburn midfielder replied: ‘I’d say just play as many games as I can in the Premier League and try and reach the highest level possible.

‘Obviously there’s a World Cup in the summer. Everyone wants to play at the World Cup. You’d be stupid if you didn’t. Champions League, everyone, if you can play Champions League, you want to play Champions League.’

On the areas of his game he could work on, Wharton added: ‘I think I can improve at everything on the ball, off the ball, communication on the pitch, off the pitch.

‘So the list is endless for that.’
