Chelsea fans to see big Argentine make move after Premier League star Caballaro makes huge transfer announcement
Willy Caballaro has admitted that he may have to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
Chelsea are currently in the midst of a transfer ban that doesn’t allow them to buy any players until the next summer transfer window, but with reports that Frank Lampard will be seeking to improve a number of areas of the squad, a number of fringe players could well be heading out the door.
And despite being an experienced member of the Chelsea side, one player that could be leaving the club at the end of the season if that of Caballaro, who has opening opened the door to a possible move away from the club at the end of the current season.
The Argentine has featured twice for the Blues this term in his role as back-up goalkeeper to Kepa Arrizabalaga, but he only has a contract until the end of the year after agreeing an extension last season, and with a new stopper on the agenda of Lampard, Caballaro has admitted that he will wait and see about a possible switch away from the club.
“I end the contract at the end of the season and we’ll see what happens in the future,” Caballero told Spanish newspaper AS
“I do not have to return to Argentina because I feel more like a European player. Here I came very young and I left my country at 22.
“I would like to return to Spain. Elche or Malaga? Of course.
“But it’s not just about what you want, it’s about [the clubs] wanting you and giving you the circumstances.
“At the moment, I’m a Chelsea player and will see what happens in June.”
Look Caballaro has been a decent stand in for the impressive Arrizabalaga this season, but Chelsea are looking to the future and will surely look to promote from the youth sides, while also adding a stopper that has top-level experience that has more than one season left in his legs.
So even though Caballaro would probably like a new deal, it would be a massive shock to see him in a Blues shirt next season.
