Top Arteta target ‘is waiting’ for Arsenal to conclude summer Emirates move!

Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori is “waiting” for Arsenal to complete his signing.

ARSENAL have been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks – but despite all the rumours and speculation – David Raya is the only player to make the move to the Emirates after he completed his permanent move to London.

However – there has been alot of transfer speculation about the potential signing of Calafiori from Bologna – a player that is attracting all sorts of clubs after his impressive performances for the Italian side last season.

Calafiori made 33 appearances for Bologna last season as they qualified for the Champions League. He impressed for the Serie A side and took that form into Euro 2024, where he was excellent for Italy during the group phase. Luciano Spalletti missed him when he was suspended for the Round of 16 defeat against Switzerland.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, talks between the Gunners and the Serie A giants are still ongoing for Calafiori. The Italians insist on a €50million (£42.1m) fee and are no plans to reduce thecentre-back’s price tag as they will owe 50 per cent to his former club Basel.

The North Londoners want to include add-ons as part of the deal for the Italy international.

The 22-year-old is on holiday and insists Arsenal are his “priority” as he is waiting for the Gunners to wrap up a transfer deal.

Former Gunners star Emmanuel Petit recently opened up and claimed that Calafiori could be a very good signing for the Gunners – and that a move to Arsenal would be perfect for the defender. As part of bet365’s Euro 2024 coverage, he said: “I have loved watching Riccardo Calafiori at Euro 2024, against Croatia he was so determined, I like him a lot. He is powerful, he has pace, he’s very aggressive, he’s young and you could see that mentally this guy is strong as well.

“When I was watching him I was thinking that this guy could be a good addition for English clubs – and Arsenal would be very good for him.

“Arsenal need someone who is versatile, he can play as a central defender but he can play in other positions too. He’s got pace, he’s intelligent with the ball and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes on the pitch. He’s very focused and good tactically too.

“He’s good technically as well and on top of it he’s got pace, energy and metal.

“He would fit in perfectly at ARSENAL but with Chelsea too. Manchester United as well. I’m pretty sure that Premier League clubs will try to sign him and that might stop him from joining Juventus.”
