Capello reveals powerhouse Chelsea problems after completing £33 million transfer move

Fabio Capello believes Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly is struggling with the pace of the Premier League.

The Senegalese international only signed from Napoli for £33m in July after Thomas Tuchel pretty much begged Ted Boehly to make him the big named signing for that back-line

Koulibaly has established himself as one of the very best defenders in world football and has constantly been linked with all the big clubs over the past few seasons – but Chelsea were the ones that managed to get him

But the Blues have conceded eight goals in the five matches he has played in so far for his new club and he has also received a red-card in the Premier League

And Capello says the centre-back hasn’t yet adapted to English football and that is why he is struggling to have the impact that many people were hoping for

What has he said?

“I would like to talk about the difficulties of Koulibaly at Chelsea. In Naples, he was doing everything by himself.

“His problems now depend on the speed with which they play in England. It’s the same pace used by Udinese to give Roma fits [in their 4-0 win at the weekend].

“It’s something that must make us Italians reflect.”
