Here is the daily roundup of Liverpool and Arsenal news, gossip and transfer speculation
Reports have claimed Arsenal and Tottenham target Anthony Martial is all set to sign a new contract with Manchester United.
Martial had been heavily criticised by ex-boss Jose Mourinho, and a number of former players, for his inability to put in decent performances on a weekly basis, with the Frenchman going missing at times when he is needed most.
And that has led to speculation that he could head to the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, PSG or Juventus in the next transfer window, with reports he has become unsettled with life at Old Trafford.
However, since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he has looked like a new players, and the Sky Sports website has claimed the 23-year-old forward is understood to have reached a final agreement with the club after months of talks and the rejection of an offer last October.
Martial’s existing deal was set to expire at the end of this season before United activated a year-long extension clause in November in hope that they could convince the speedy winger to stay put and commit his long-term future to the club.
Fresh reports have claimed Arsenal are in talks with Chinese club Dalian Yifang about a deal for Yannick Carrasco.
Despite spending over £70 million in the summer transfer window, Gunners boss Unai Emery is still keen to splash the cash over the next few transfer windows and keep improving his side, and Carrasco is reportedly on his shopping list.
While Manchester United, wwo are just beginning to find their feet this season, are keen to acquire a few players this January window in hope of getting back into the top four, it is the Gunners who lead the chase for Carrasco.
The former Atletico Madrid star caused controversy nine months ago when he decided to join Dalian Yifang alongside teammate Nicolas Gaitan in big-money moves.
However, Carrasco is reportedly on the lookout for a club in Europe and reports on the Sky Sports website has now claimed Arsenal made an offer to take the Croatia international on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Inter Miann CEO Beppe Marotta is adamant that they will not allow Arsenal to secure a cut-price deal for Ivan Perisic.
With the January transfer window coming to an end, there has been some shock speculation in the media which have claimed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery is very interested in tryuing to secure a deal for Milan winger Perisic.
Perisic has been linked with a move to the Premier League for months after an impressive world cup with Croatia and there was some reports which suggested Manchester United were leading the chase for his services, that was until the Red Devils decided to sack Jose Mourinho.
However, despite the fact Perisic has handed in a transfer request in order to get his move to England, the Gunners can only do loan deals this month and are not able to meet the £36 million Valuation that the Italian side have placed on the head of Perisic.
And now Marotta has warned Emery that they will not be getting a bargain deal for ther winger.
‘We have listened to the player’s desire,’ Marotta told Radio Rai.
‘But we must also take into account any clubs that are interested in him, the asset value that represents the player, and the investment made by Inter at the time.’
Barcelona have confirmed Denis Suarez has joined Arsenal until the end of the season.
The highly-rated midfielder was tipped to become one of the clubs next big things at Barca after showing great potential as a youngster, but he has failed to nail down a regular starting spot with the Spaniards and has become frustrated at his lack of game time.
The 25-year-old has barely featured for the Spanish champions this season and has admitted on numerous occasions that he will seek a move if things do not improve by January.
Recent reports suggested Unai Emery is keen on signing Suarez and the 25-year-old has verbally agreed to join Arsenal, but the Gunners and Barcelona could not yet agreed on the terms of the transfer.
However, things have developed since then and Barcelona have now confirmed the deal, telling the club website: “FC Barcelona and Denis Suárez have reached an agreement for the extension of the player’s contract with the club, which ended on 30 June 2020, until 30 June 2021,” the Spanish club said in a short statement on Wednesday afternoon.
