Sporting Director confirms talented winger decision made – now at Liverpool

Fabio Carvalho has returned to Liverpool early from his loan at RB Leipzig, it has been announced.

Carvalho, who has played for Portugal Under-21s, moved to LIVERPOOL from Fulham in the summer of 2022 and has featured 21 times for the Reds, scoring three goals.

The 21-year-old made only three starts in a total of 15 appearances in all competitions for the German outfit after joining last summer in what had been set to be a season-long deal.

RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder said in quotes on the club’s official website: “We were able to sign a young player with plenty of potential over the summer in Fabio Carvalho.

“Fabio was able to quickly integrate himself here, but both parties had expected more from his time here – especially Fabio in terms of his playing time.

“Due to the quality and competition within our squad at his position, we are unable to guarantee this for him. We held several discussions over the last days and in the end, decided to end his loan early.

“We would like to thank Fabio for his efforts at RBL and wish him all the best for the future.”

Carvalho is a very gifted young man that has great potential – so it is a shame to see that his loan spell at the Bundesliga giants has been cut short.

However – there will be a few clubs interested in getting another loan deal done for the man should LIVERPOOL decide that there is no space in the side for Carvalho.

This is a disappointing start to the 2024 year for Carvalho – but hopefully ti does not knock his confidence too much.
