‘Zero Qualities’ Former Chelsea striker leaves fans smiling after Arsenal sent Luiz transfer message
David Luiz doesn’t have the qualities needed by Unai Emery at Arsenal, claims Tony Cascarino.
Emery was linked with some of the games biggest players over the summer and it looked like Gunners fans were all set to see a world class defender come in and help shore up that dodgy back line that the club currently has.
But despite all the rumours, despite all the speculation and despite all the money that the club has, Emery shock many in the media by landing David Luiz from Chelsea in a deal that would only cost the club £8 million.
However, the Brazilians arrival has only made the Gunners back-line worse and he has already cost the Gunners points against Liverpool and Watford, with his other performances looking nothing more than a player that is not capable of playing at the top level any longer.
And Cascarino has come out and claimed that the signing of Luiz makes no sense, as he does not have the qualities that Emery needed.
Cascarino wrote for the Times: ‘Arsenal had no control, no composure. They needed to sign a defender this summer, someone who is cool under pressure and has leadership qualities — and they went and spent £8 million on David Luiz, a player who has never embodied any of those qualities.’
‘Emery has been at Arsenal for more than a year and, while they have improved in some areas, the same problems remain,’ the 57-year-old continued.
‘Last season we were talking about whether they had the players to always be passing the ball out from the back, and we are still having that debate now — it must be infuriating for Arsenal fans to watch and I don’t see it changing anytime soon.’
There were so many players out there that Emery could have tried to sign during the window but the club have ended up with Luiz, and although he may have a good game here and there, he is not the man that would help improve the back line.
Emery made a massive mistake in signing Luiz and it will only be his fault if he gets the sack before the end of the season.
