Chelsea free to sign striker after Madrid announcement, Traore ready for Chelsea, Liverpool helping Blues, Lampard demands striker signing
Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from icfootballnews.com
Chelsea hero Pat Nevin says Liverpool and Manchester City are helping the Blues in their transfer pursuits this summer.
The Chelsea are hoping to be busy before the transfer window shuts on Friday evening as boss Frank Lampard is desperate for the club to back him in the next few days and bring in a few new faces.
And Blues hero Nevin has come out and claimed that Liverpool and City are actually helping the Blues in their quest to sign players, with the likes of Krzysztof Piatek and Wilfred Zaha linked with a move.
Nevin told Chelsea’s official website: “So, there are unexpected effects of unwise January buys and the clubs need to be wary of these.
“Fortunately, Chelsea aren’t in a bad position compared with others in this regard. There is a desire to improve the squad, there always is and always should be, but it isn’t exactly a desperate situation.
“The market knows this and as such we should be able to make a deal or two if we want to, that is still good value.
“There have been plenty of reports in the ether regarding Chelsea, from Zaha at Palace to Piatek at Milan and who knows how serious or informed any of these stories are.
“Most of the names mentioned have been impressive and obviously well-researched by the club’s people.
“Piatek would have been one of my first options a year ago, so I believe they are ‘all over’ the available players in the market that Frank Lampard has been interested in.
“It may also help that Man City, Liverpool and even Leicester City are not looking in the same places as we are at the moment.
“The teams above us in the league look fairly settled with their squads so it may make our deals that little bit more likely.”
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is pressuring Blues chiefs to sign a new striker before Friday’s transfer deadline, with reports the club are keen on Kryztof Piatek.
Tammy Abraham is Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season, however, the England international is struggling with an ankle injury and that means that Chelsea only have Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud as the clubs only options up top.
But with Giroud seemingly on his way out of the club after showing his unhappiness with the amount of game time he has been receiving, Lampard will need to spend some serious money in the coming days.
And according to The Sun, Lampard has demanded the Blues sign a new striker this month, as the former Chelsea star has urged technical director Petr Cech and director Marina Granovskaia to back him in the transfer window.
The reports claims Lampard feels the west London club must spend to secure a place in the top four this season.
Abd according to reports, if Frank Lampard offloads Olivier Giroud to Inter Milan this month then they may bid for the striker at rivals AC, with reports suggesting Stefano Pioli’s side are reportedly demanding £25million for the 24-year-old Piatek, and will not accept a loan deal.
Edinson Cavani is also a target but the PSG’s demands are putting the Blues off.
They have been linked with a move for Edinson Cavani, who would cost £5 million just to loan, while he would demand a massive £380,000-a-week contract, but Piatek would easily accept a contract wage of around £150,000-a-week and would be a massive snip for that £25 million asking price.
So if Chelsea do believe that Lampard is the man to lead the club back to success, then they need to give him the funds to complete a transfer deal, as he seriously needs to add a striker to this Chelsea side in the coming days.
Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of PSG star Edinson Cavani after Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo revealed the Spanish giants are not close to signing the striker.
There has been a lot of speculation in the media over the last few days all suggesting that Chelsea will be wrapping up a late January deal to acquire the services of Cavani a loan deal until the ned of the season.
The striker, who has netted 198 goals for PSG, has already handed in a transfer request this window as he seeks to leave the club, and would reportedly cost Chelsea £5 million to loan until the end of the season.
However, there has also been some reports in the media which have suggested that Madrid are also keen on a deal for Cavani and are actually ahead of the Chelsea for a possible deal, as the PSG ace would prefer a move to La Liga.
But, CHELSEA have now been given the all-clear to complete a deal after Cerezo came out and admitted that there is no agreement with Cavani about a possible deal, he told Spanish publication AS: “There is absolutely nothing with the player.
“We need to score goals and we have great goalscorer, but what we are missing now is a bit of luck and we are not taking our chances.
“Transfers are always complicated but at the moment there is nothing.”
Chelsea should look to snap up Wolves winger Adama Traore over the next few days, as he is ready for a big move.
Chelsea have been linked with so many players over the last few months that most of us have forgotten the players that have been linked, but one thing is for certain, Frank Lampard needs to spend some money to help improve his very talented young side.
His defence needs to be sorted out, he needs to add another world class creative midfielder, a winger is also needed in the squad and Lampard also needs to spend some money to add another forward to his attack, so he needs to improve the side a lot over the coming transfer windows.
But one player that he should take a serious look at signing, is that of Spanish winger Traore.
Nobody has ever doubted the 23-year-old’s talents, but for all the ability in his feet, all the power in his muscular frame, things didn’t always come together for the Wolves star.
However, he has managed to get things right over at Wolves and has almost become the finished article at the Champions league chasing side, with his power, skill, pace and delivery up there with some of the best in the Premier League.
And against the best defence in the Premier League during the midweek game last week, he once against caused havoc against Liverpool and their left-back Andy Robertson, with everything good coming through the talented Spaniard.
Chelsea have some very exciting youngsters in the squad at the moment, but Frank Lampard seems to be having real issues getting some end product from the likes of Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
