Ornestein messaage to Arsernal about defender arrival, Arsenal in talks to sign La Liga star, Arteta announces he wants midfielder at the Arsenal
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.com
William Saliba will not be recalled from his loan spell at Saint-Etienne this month, David Ornestein has told fans.
Ex-ARSENAL boss Uani emery was linked with a whole host of players during the summer transfer window, and many fans were excited to see what kind of players that the Spaniard would bring in to make a real statement to the Premier League and rest of the top four challengers.
But despite all the excitement, despite all the rumours and despite all the speculation, the Spaniard failed to acquire the type of players that could come in and make a serious impact on the side, and send a real statement to the rest of the Premier League.
Saliba was signed by the Gunners last summer and immediately sent back to Ligue 1 on a temporary deal until the end of the season, but with the club seeking to improve the back-line this transfer window, rumours have recently suggested Mikel Arteta could cut the loan short in January and bring him back to the club.
However, as Arsenal struggle in the defensive areas Ornstein has told the Athletic that such a move is unlikely.
“Some have suggested to me that Arsenal would like to keep him at the club for the remainder of the season,” he said on the Ornstein and Chapman podcast.
“So that he’s ready to go into new campaign in perfect shape.
“Any hope of Arsenal getting him available to play this season is, we think, unlikely. They would have to probably strike a deal to actually effectively sign him and break the one-year loan.”
Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Atletico Madrid over a possible deal for Thomas Lemar.
Ex-Gunners boss Unai Emery went and spent a massive £72 million to acquire the services of Nicolas Pepe during the summer window, believing he had the ability to be a star at the Emirates, but that move has not worked out and the Gunners have now reportedly eyed up a possible move for Lemar.
The ARSENAL have previously been linked with Lemar, and he is a target this time around as Mikel Arteta wants to add a midfielder to his squad this month.
Atleti have already begun working with agents to secure the 24-year-old a move away from Madrid, with Spanish publication MARCA claiming that the Spanish giants have already received an offer from the Gunners about a possible January deal for the winger.
Now RMC Sport claim the Gunners are hoping to complete a deal for the Frenchman this month, with talks on-going, but no agreement is close to being agreed as things stand.
Amid the transfer speculation surrounding his future, Lemar recently posted a cryptic message on the social media platform, stating: “The days follow each other are not alike,” wrote Lemar.
“However, I learned that no matter what your day is made of, the main thing is to keep smiling and stay positive happy smile newyear.”
Mikel Arteta has urged Dani Ceballos to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place in the side.
After months and month and months of transfer speculation during the summer transfer window, the Gunners finally managed to finalise a try-before-they officially buy deal for the Spaniard, as Emery was desperate to add another midfielder to the side after Aaron Ramsey departed the club.
The Spaniard made an immediate impact on the Gunners side and got many fans excited about his ability on the ball, especially as they have been crying out for a player like him since Cesc Fabregas left the club.
But reports have emerged saying Ceballos wants to return to parent club Real Madrid as he was frustrated by the lack of game time over the last few weeks after failing to break back into the ARSENAL side after picking up an injury.
However, Arteta has revealed he has spoken to Ceballos and wants him to stay and fight for his place in this Arsenal side, telling the Daily Express: “I had a conversation with Dani. When I joined the club he wasn’t here. He was in Madrid because he was doing his rehab for over a month with the team that owns him.
“When I came here he was doing his rehab in the first two or three weeks, getting back to fitness and I haven’t seen much of him because he only trained with us for a week or 10 days.
“It’s very early to assess what I can or cannot do with him. I heard about all those things but I have nothing to comment.
“He needs to get back to fitness and fight for his place like any other player. After that we will make a selection that is fair with what I see on the pitch.”
Arsenal have submitted a loan bid for Shakhtar Donetsk centre-back Mykola Matviyenko, reports claim.
Now we all know that Arsenal spent some serious money during the summer transfer window improving the squad in certain areas of the pitch, with many Gunners fans actually excited about the season ahead under Unai Emery.
But the first half of the season has now passed, Emery has got the sack and Mikel Arteta has inherited a side that is lacking in quality all over the pitch, meaning that he needs to spend some more cash trying to get the players he needs to succeed as boss of the Arsenal.
And one area of the pitch that has been identified as a key area of importance, is that of defence, as the club has continually shipped goals with silly mistakes by a back-line that is relatively experienced in the Premier League.
That has, of course, led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media linking the club with a number of possible transfer signings, but rather than sign a big name, it seems that the Gunners are once again trusting their scouts and has contacted Donetsk about a deal for Matviyenko
And according to Sky Sports, ARSENAL have opened talks with Shakhtar over a potential loan deal for Ukraine international Matviyenko, but with the player having 18 months left on his contract, it is understood the Ukrainian club would prefer a £30million permanent deal.
The 23-year-old came through Shakhtar’s academy and made his first-team debut for the Ukrainian club in 2015.
Matviyenko, who has been capped 20 by Ukraine, has also been linked with a move to Manchester City having played against them in the Champions League earlier this season.
But now his agent Yuriy Danchenko recently told Ukrainian media about talks with the Arsenal: “Recently, my colleagues and I have been constantly in contact with representatives of the Arsenal, and have had meetings. The Gunners have already contacted Shakhtar, and we hope that these negotiations will succeed.”
Look, the lad may be talented, the lad may have put in some solid performances this season, he may have caught the attentions of Pep Guardiola, but ARSENAL fans want to see impact layers signed, they want ready-made stars that will sort out this defence.
What is wrong with spending some serious money on some serious players with world class credibility?
