Boss opens up and has transfer update on proposed £35m Arsenal Tierney deal
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has delivered the latest on Arsenal target Kieran Tierney’s future, as the Gunners are keen to complete a transfer deal this summer.
With Unai Emery seeking to bolster his squad this summer with the kind of transfer budget that a Championship side may have, there has been about of transfer speculation about whom he could bring in over the next few months.
And one name that has been linked with a possible move to the Emirates is that of Tierney, the Celtic star that has reportedly impressed the Spanish boss over the course of the last 12 months.
It is believed that Arsenal have already had a £15 million offer rejected by the Scottish side, as they seek to get around £35 million for their rising star, a fee that is starting to put off Arsenal.
“I have taken no notice of the headlines,” Lennon said on the Daily Express website. “I am well aware of where we are in terms of the situation.
“I spoke to Kieran in Austria and to be honest I haven’t really seen much of him because he came back early for rehab, so has not been on the training ground as yet.
“It can be an unsettling period for any player and that is understandable but until a club comes up with any sort of realistic valuation of the player we don’t have to do anything and we won’t.
“It’s as you were. Kieran is getting on with his rehabilitation and we are getting on with what we have to do here.”
The transfer budget that Emery is reportedly all set to get is quite embarrassing, especially for such a big club like the Gunners and they should be looking to sign world class players this transfer windows, not talents like Tierney.
However, The lad has shown great potential over the past 12 months and it is very easy to see just why Emery is keen to wrap up a transfer deal over the next few months
But Arsenal fans should have known a deal was going to take a while, as their transfer business always does.
