Italian confirms Boehly shook hands over £25M Chelsea deal – defender made big decision!

Todd Boehly and Chelsea agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest to sell Trevoh Chalobah on deadline day, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea were one of the most active sides in the transfer window over the past few months and managed to bring in a whole load of players that the board feel will help drive the club forward over the next couple of seasons.

However – there were also a number of players that the club no longer wanted to keep hold of and Chalobah was on the chopping board at Stamford Bridge.

Romano believes Nottingham Forest and the Blues shook hands on a £25m deal for Chalobah after Bayern Munich saw a move of their own for the Chelsea No.14 break down, but he made the decision to stay and fight for his place in the Blues squad.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

He Tweeted: ‘Nottingham Forest tried to sign Trevoh Chalobah with an important proposal to the player on Deadline Day. The agreement with Chelsea was done, permanent transfer for more than £25m 🔵 #CFC

‘Chalobah appreciated effort but rejected & decided to stay after Bayern deal collapsed.’

KANE CLAIM MADE –

Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Chelsea should have broke the bank to sign Kylian Mbappe or Harry Kane this summer.

CHELSEA have largely prioritised moves for young players in the Todd Boehly era, handing them long contracts in the hope that they develop into superstars, rather than adding players to the side that will have an immediate impact.

it hasn’t been the start to the new season that he’d have hoped for with Chelsea picking up just four points from four games so far, including a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Tottenham, Kane

Pochettino’s side dominated in terms of possession and shots on goal, but according to Agbonlahor, they should have added a proven striker to the attack this summer in order to help bang in the goals.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Speaking on Gameday Phone-In, Agbonlahor said: “What I don’t understand with Chelsea is that they had 21 shots and guess how many on target? Two.

“They’re getting into the positions but they just don’t have the quality and it seems to be a theme now.

“You look on social media and the story is that Chelsea sign players but they lose games.

“They’ve spent £1billion. Why didn’t Chelsea use a quarter of that money and go out and buy a star? Go and give Paris Saint-Germain an offer for Mbappe that they can’t refuse.

“Harry Kane, ‘there you go, Daniel Levy. Whatever you want’. £150million for Harry Kane and you’ve got two superstars.

“They’ve bought loads of players who are average. Mudryk came on and he nearly gave away two goals!

“He was absolutely useless. He’s had 19 games, zero goals and they haven’t got a style of play.

“Today it was five at the back or three centre-halves. They have Gallagher who doesn’t score goals in there and it’s slow.

“Caicedo made two mistakes in there, they’re changing formations again – why not start with a back four?

“No disrespect to Nottingham Forest, but you should be playing four at the back against them and yes, Pochettino might think that he’s got time but carry on losing, let’s see if the Chelsea fans give you time.”

AMRABAT WANTED –

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf admits he wanted his old club to hijack Manchester United’s deal to sign Sofyan Amrabat on deadline day.

The Red Devils have paid £8.5m (€10m) to take 27-year-old Amrabat on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent for £21.4m (€25m), and ended months of transfer speculation and rumours regarding the man.

Leboeuf, though, feels Amrabat would have been the perfect player to pair with Enzo Fernandez in CHELSEA’s midfield and is irked that the Blues did not consider a move.

Chelsea have largely prioritised moves for young players in the Todd Boehly era, handing them long contracts in the hope that they develop into superstars, rather than adding players to the side that will have an immediate impact.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

‘When I see those kind of players going to Manchester United… I often talk about Chelsea trying to find those experienced players in the middle of the park,’ Leboeuf told ESPN.

‘Why didn’t you think about that guy? He would have been the perfect player to pair with Enzo Fernandez.

‘Yeah they got Moises Caicedo, but for over £100m! I see that guy going to United on loan, he can then be bought for [a total fee of] £30m. That would have been a bargain.

‘He was amazing for Morocco at the last World Cup. He has proven his talent. Why don’t Chelsea think of these guys?

‘He’s an experienced player. Why don’t Chelsea think of these kind of players?’

Look, the summer went like that for Chelsea fans, the club were linked with some big time players – but the board made the decision to spend their cash on talents that they hope will turn into superstars.

The transfer plan of CHELSEA is a strange one and many fans will not be happy with the start of the side – but if Chelsea fail to meet the expectations that many hope for, they only have themselves to blame.

Amrabat is a solid addition to Man United and would have been a better buy than many of the signings Chelsea have made this summer.
